Though we have similar guides for the Sony Ericsson Xperia 2011 line up, I couldn't find a similer thread in this forum for the SONY Xperia lineup.
Since a few user have questions about this I decided to make a step by step guide. Hope it helps someone.

So here we go,,

1)Download the Sony PC Companion from official Sony support site if you don’t have it Installed already.
2) Flash your phone with the latest software available using PC Companion. If you don’t want to flash the phone, just going until the Software download step is enough. [You'll need this step to get the temporary files required to create the ftf.]
3) Go to:
C:\ProgramData\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs

4) create a folder "Source_files" in C:\
5) You'll find 3 larger files with filenames like "file_#########".One large file (~400MB) and 2 smaller files (~14MB and ~64KB) .Copy those 3
files to "C:\Source_files"

********[Ignore the files with filename like "ICON_#####...."]********

6) Download and install the latest flashtool from here
5) Run FlashTool
6) Click Tools>Bundles>FILESET Decrypt
7)Select source folder : "C:\Source_files"
8) From 'Available Files' , select all (Hold Shift and click on 3 files) and click -> to move the 3 files to "Files to convert"
9) Click Convert
10) Wait till it finishes...
11) From Folder list, select all (Using SHift+Click) and click -> to move all files to Firmware content.
12) If it is ICS, tick the Disable Final Verification Check
13) On Device Select your model [ex. Xperia U (ST25i)], on Version write the firmware version (Ex. 6.1.1.B.1.10) , on Branding write the local
(Ex.Indian or Italian etc.)
14) Click OK
16) Wait till the process finishes...

********[You'll get "Finished bundle creation" message on the log]********

17) When it finishes the .ftf file can be found on "C:\Flashtool\firmwares"[/B]

********************* Updated********************************

1 ) Updated the guide with new links
2) Removed SUS information since it has been discontinued.
3) Changed some instructions to match with the latest flashtool.

Thanks, for this excellent guide OP! Because of this, I was able to recover my JLo stuck at bootloop after trying to push cwmr via ADB.
Just one query. How to add .su and busybox in the ftf file (how to pre-root your ftf file/Rom) ?

Dead cookies leave no trails...

So I was trying to make an ftf file for the Xperia V. I succeed when making it using an ICS firmware. However the Jellybean firmware is different. The 3 biggest files consist of a file size of ~400mb, ~200mb and ~16mb. I tried making the firmware and failed. Any help?
