Is their a anyway to watch youtube with googlebot
:cowboy:
+1, just curious. while tethering using hotspot, no matter what UA I pick with Chrome the YouTube site/videos wont work(get an error message). not too big of an issue as I can still watch videos on my phone, but would be nice to watch on a bigger screen ;). oh yeah, thanks for all the previous info!:good:

yep still working for me as of right now(except for youtube), which browser and UA are you using? Im using Chrome with the UA Spoofer and added a GoogleBot string. my homepage opens up to the dreaded T-Mobile notification(weird since its google) but all I do is refresh the browser and works just fine. since youre on stock rom and kernel, you might wanna try Barnacle wifi tether from the Play store

All works fine yet for me and I don't have problems with youtube either.
I got arround the problem with homepage loading is to set my home to https://www.google.com
with the HTTPS it won't get blocked.
ah thanks for that:good:
how are you getting youtube to work tho?

*edit*
nvm I got it to work now, feel kinda dumb....forgot to clear all data/cache from chrome :banghead:

So far best solution I've found is having one of these [link removed] (or any other similar router) running this [link removed] which runs a VPN from my home internet. Along with a free dynamic dns service which gives me a free subdomain linked to my IP, all I have to do is connect to the address with android's vpn features and everything is hidden from t-mo. Not a thing they can do about it either.
I haven't configured or used DD-WRT or Dynamic DNS before, but I am very interested in this approach. Can you share a few more details on it? Does DD-WRT come with VPN functionality "out of the box," like you just have to enable it and configure it? Also, can you expand on the configuration of the dynamic DNS, and where it is configured (router, provider, both)?

Many thanks!

I'm able to tether and load web pages, but YouTube videos are not working for me. When I click on a video, it looks like it's going to load for a second then I get a message that says "An error occurred. Please try again later." Doesn't seem to matter which user agent I try. I have cleared my cookies, cache, etc. Any ideas?

Interestingly, I get the same error when trying to view videos from inside the phone's browser. Videos load on the YouTube app and from m.youtube.com just fine.

Beating T Mobile Bar

Hi

I followed your procedure all the way until the last line.

'Then pick a User Agent that resembles the Sensation webkit and BAM! Free tethering for all of us.'

Don't follow. I can see a long, nested list of agents that I've now installed access to but which to choose?? What does 'that resembles the Sensation webkit ' mean (I'm not a developer)??

If it helps I'm running a Vista/Firefox laptop tethered to a wireless hot spot on an Android tablet running Froyo (2.2) and of course a T Mobile prepaid mobile wireless service.

Thanks for your help....:laugh::laugh:

You have to add the UA toolbar then select the appropriate spoofer from that list through the toolbar drop-down menu.

Just wondering if anybody had any idea how to also play battlefield while spoofing to get the tethering to work.

The battlefield webpage loads up good enough but when you try to start a game, it says that you need to be on a windows platform. I assume this isn't possible because the entire idea is to tell webpages (ie tell tmo) that you are on a mobile device.

Just askin!

Hey guys, this used to work for me, but not any more. Even selecting HTC Sensation doesn't do it. Googlebot, iOS, doesn't matter.
Did TMO update their detectability? What's the process you use for switching? Back when it worked before HTC Sensation worked, now it doesn't.
I"m rooted on Elegancia Pegasys 3.8
