How to change S9/S9+ CSC (Only Same Model Number's CSC)

Hi I will tell you how to change S9/S9+ CSC simple.
You can change to the same Model Number's CSC.
You don't need a special UART Cable.
It's simple to changing using RealTerm or PuTTY with any Type-C cable.
(I recommend Samsung's bundle cable in the phone box.)
Install Smart Switch and RealTerm or PuTTY.
I will tell you using RealTerm.
And you will need SamFirm to download Stock Firmware.

1. Find Your Model's Combination File by yourself!
And Flash by Odin.

2. If your phone shows your Model Number after boot.
Run RealTerm and go to Port tab.
Set Baud to 230400 and Select Port to ssudmdm0000 or very similar name.

3. Go to Send tab.
Enter "AT" and click Send ASCII.
If you get a response like

+USB READY
BOOTING COMPLETED
AT

or

AT

or

OK

or

BOOTING COMPLETED
AT

Proceed to the next number.
If you didn't get a response click +CR and send again.
If you get a response like "ERROR" proceed to the next number.
Still if you didn't get a response check your phone status and cable status.
If everything is normal proceed to the next number.
If still you didn't get a response it mean's your phone or cable is not normal status.

4. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.

AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK

??? is your current CSC.

5. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=2,???" and click Send ASCII.
Enter ??? you want to change to another CSC.
You will get this response.

AT+PRECONFG=2,???+PRECONFG:2,OK
OK

??? is your changed CSC.

6. Enter "AT+PRECONFG=1,0" and click Send ASCII.
You will get this response.

AT+PRECONFIG=1,0+PRECONFG:1,???
OK

??? is your changed, current CSC.

7. Flash Changed CSC's Stock Firmware.

Congratulations!
You changed CSC for free by yourself!

Special Thanks to "HD Voice"
(He finded this method even without having a S9/S9+. Just a normal Korean User LOL)

Hi applypay,

Thank you! I tried this on my S9 Exynos G960F/DS, Taiwan (BRI) stock.
However the Combination Rom must be installed first, otherwise "AT+PRECONFG" command will return nothing.
Once "AT+PRECONFG=2,???" is done, then install whatever local Rom to use, and for me it worked.

what is the method for device with single CSC firmware?
I used to extract sec_csc.zip or sec_omc.zip from a different phone and then flash from recovery.

Not possible. I have CHC only phone and want to change to TGY. Only firmware available is CHC. I used to take sec_csc.zip from a totally different phone and flash, but it seems like csc are no longer flashable?

SM-W2018 used sec_csc.zip so I took tgy zip from S7 edge and flashed in stock recovery . W2019 has ODM partition, not a zip, so I don't know how to flash another phone's CSC

I performed this tutorial on my G965F just for proof that it works. I took screenshots for those who may be interested, and just to help you along the way while you're changing the CSC on your device.

Let's start off by saying, I did NOT find this method, I simply used the guide from @applepay in his thread HERE.

I've added screenshots and proof to show that this works, and to show you how to use RealTerm to change the CSC on your device.
Now, the main purpose of this would be to help those who have region locked devices, however since I don't have one, I can't test this. This will also benefit those who want DBT for example, for quick OTA updates, but don't have a German SIM card to change the CSC using the normal method.

My device is a local Pakistani model so the CSC was PAK/PAK,PAK/PAK. Just for proof, I tried changing it to NEE (Nordic Countries). Screenshots are given below.

    ---------------------------------------
Step 1) Power off your device and make sure to back up all data, since this will require a factory reset. REMOVE your SIM card before proceeding further.

Step 2) Boot into download mode, and flash the combination file for your device. I had a v2 combination file for S9+ already, so I flashed that.
Download link for v2 combination file for G965F - AndroidFileHost
Your device should look like this while booting:

Step 3) Fire up RealTerm and connect your phone to your PC. Once booted into the combination file, it will say either SM-G965F or SM-G965F [DS] if it's a dual SIM device.
    Should look like this:

    https://imgbox.com/9ZdRS0BJ

Step 4) Click the 'Port Tab' on RealTerm, for me it showed Port 8 = \ssudmdm0000, if this shows up for you, it means your device has been detected by RealTerm, then set the Baud rate to 230400
    Screenshot:
    https://imgbox.com/OpwRG4qD

Step 5) Go to the 'Send' Tab on RealTerm, enter 'AT' and hit the 'Send ASCII' button, you'll get this as a reply:

    Code:
    USB READY
    BOOTING COMPLETE
    AT

    Screenshot:
    https://imgbox.com/1ky52t8k

Step 6) Enter 'AT+PRECONFG=1,0' and hit 'Send ASCII' again, you should get your current CSC as a response, in my case it is PAK.
    Screenshot:
    https://imgbox.com/iZgiAkqg

Step 7) To change your CSC to your desired CSC, use this command 'AT+PRECONFG=2,???', replace ??? with the CSC you want to install on your device. I chose NEE, so my command looked like this: AT+PRECONFG=2,NEE
    Screenshot:
    https://imgbox.com/yTAo0uGI

Step 8) To confirm your changes have been applied, type this command to test the current CSC, 'AT+PRECONFG=1,0', your response will look like the message in the screenshot below:
    Screenshot:
    https://imgbox.com/u2LjnmZU

Step 9) Go to SamFirm, type SM-G965F and download the latest firmware of the new CSC which you have applied. Flash in Odin with AP, BL, CP and CSC_OXM and your device will reboot. Since the CSC has been changed, first boot will take a little longer than usual.

Here is my device with NEE CSC instead of PAK:

Guys the combination file U7 for g965f is out today but still not free, maybe someone can share it here.
    You can grab it HERE

Now I'm confused [emoji53] Doesn't the CSC have to be changed by following the process in the first post of this thread?
That's only if you don't have the SIM card of the region you want to switch to, or if you want to change to another unbranded CSC.

In the case above, that user wants to switch to a carrier CSC, so the combination file method is not required.
    2
I mean, this method of changing CSC using realterm will work also for S10+ or not? by the way, I owned S10 plus (SM-G975U1)
No it will not work fo the S10 series.

Combination ROMs can't be flashed on S10 without special permission from Samsung.

    Great guide!
    It helped me a lot.

One small addition : on my Note 9, when i started RealTerm, after flashing combination, RealTerm detected the port, but no command was being sent. I have digged a bit the issue, and realised that after selecting the port, i go to Misc TAB in RealTerm and click on top left Setup, phone gets detected, and all went well from there.
Please add this part to the guide, so it will help others!

    Thanks!
