Hello my friends, i'm making this tutorial to help the people that have a Defy Plus (MB526) and can't use MIUI, becuz' this rom doesn't work on 2.3.6 kernels

THIS GUIDE ITS ONLY FOR DEFY+ WITH 2.3.6 KERNEL
And you will continue unable to downgrade to Froyo, but you will be able to use another kernel instead
This will give

First, i will talk about my Defy+
I was buyed it here in brazil, without any contract with any operator ( a retail phone )
I do not know whether my Defy it was BL7 or BL6, but I read in some forums that all the brazilian Defy Plus (retail) are BL7 (Wrong info, some Defy+ are BL6, maybe all those who use the factory firmware 4.5.1-134 DFP 133 Retail-BR, I really can not tell which, but that did not matter at this time)

EDIT: According to our friend called Chamelleon, all the Defy+ with BL7 can NOT downgrade using this method!

So, one day some member of the xda, uploaded one chinese bootloader and kernel (in .sbf flash file)

*(I do not remember what member that posted it, but as soon as I find out I will give due credit it deserves!)

i decided to flash this sbf with other another sbf, and i make some steps to get any rom based on Froyo/CM7 Kernel workin' on my beatiful phone

Well, enough mumbo jumbo for today, let's get to what really interests

I want to clarify that I am NOT responsible if you kill your phone!
My phone died MANY times until I would obtain success in this feat
so, I will not give a damn if you kill your Defy!

You need:
-one Defy+, with 100% battery charged, rooted and bootmenu with lastest recovery installed
-RSD Lite v4.9
-some full stock rom in .sbf file in case of your phone gets bricked (i use the DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-125, just search on google and you will find a lot of these sbf's)
-An MIUI Rom OR CM7Kernel.zip on your SDcard (this will be your newer kernel)

Let's go for the steps:

1-Download and Install RSDLite v4.9: http://www.mediafire.com/?ufxs9lft9q2xwnu
2-Download the sbf file: http://www.mediafire.com/?vdpp0nnr5f12e95
3-Open the RSD Lite, and on ... button select the Defy-BL6Downgrade.sbf file that you have downloaded
4-Turn off your Defy+, turn it on again in bootloader mode (power+vol up)
5-Connect your phone in cable usb, and select it on devices list

~this will be something like on this screenshot, take your refference~




6-Click "Start" button!
7-Wait some time, your phone will automatically reboot! ~PAY ATTENTION NOW~
8-An chinese bootlogo will appear, tap "vol down" button until when the blue led flashes
9-Now you get to bootmenu, enter in recovery and wipe data/cache, and flash some custom kernel and another rom (aka CM7 kernel or any rom that have kernel included, like MIUI)

Enjoy your defy+ with downgraded kernel :)

F.A.Q:

1-My phone doens't turn on! HEEEEEEEEELLP!
R: Download another full stock sbf for your defy+, maybe your defy+ can't be downgraded ( some issue with your bootloader, i think )

2-I can't wipe cache!
R: Yea, this chinese sbf corrupts the cache partition, you need to go on mounts and storage in recovery, and format cache.

3-My phone don't connect to RSD lite, Windows are searching drivers and stuck on this pass
R: Search for Motorola Drivers on google, install it and reboot your PC.

4-Can i do this without bootmenu installed?
R: No, you really need to get in custom recovery to wipe the data/cache partitions, becuz' this is necessary to install the newer rom/kernel.

5-These guide is too complicated, and your english is a bu**sh**!
R: Sorry, i can't solve this problem, unnafortunaly.

Hello,

I'm in the same state because i bought a bricked defy (MB525 green lens) for it's parts, i fixed mine (MB525 red lens).
Once done, i though i could give a shot to unbrick it as i get white led blinks, i tried many many SBFs and ended flashing the BL7 which worked, i came to the conclusion the previous owner followed a tutorial for MB526 and flashed a BL7 SBF in first place so that's why any other SBF won't work...IMO i had no choice to flash something as the wrong way was already followed.

From now, i've applied this, correct me if i'm wrong what's the best i can expect: install a GB's kernel rom (like WiUi for defy+) without a working camera but is it risky to keep the B5FX battery ? As it's a MB526 now, won't it overcharge the battery...?

And wait a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooong time for a way to downgrade from BL7.........?

Wait...so you have redlense mb525?
If yes..you camera must work. Also if its redlense you can flash MB526 builds.
Also battery won't over charge because you are using mb526 on mb525 as I know...
So it will charge to. 90% and stop.
But newer cm10 nightlies fixed that

Hi

I have both, i first got a mb525 RL i use daily, it fall few times so it's shell broke a bit so i bought a cheap 2nd hand bricked defy (mb525 GL) for parts and as i'm a bit geek i thought it was worth to try to bring it back to life which worked but it's blind.. :)

I'm in a similar situation except that I have a green lens (updating a quarx build bricked my phone. nothing would work except for the bl7 sbf's). I now have a rooted phone but no camera and a slightly undercharged battery (loosing 10%) but otherwise all ok.
I quess to get the camera working I would have to either create my very own sbf with the camera bits from 525 and the rest 526.
Or do I have to try and overide the kernel version ??
Does anyone have any expirience with this annoying situation?
Any specific combo of 525 rom with 526 and kernel that would operate my green lens ??

Thx for any advice you guys have! And good luck to all those who are trying to work something out :)
