"I just want to drag & drop" Rofl? Get off your lazy ass. You are the kind of people that just leech off others and don't appreciate what other people contributed to this community. Maybe you should've done some research before you got the phone. The reason why Microsoft wants us to use Zune is that they can make more profit, thats how the business world works. If it wastes your time then just watch it on your Pc then, no one is stopping you from doing that.

Back to the point the converter is very nice however it takes around 50-60mins to convert the HD video(40mins duration) which does seem to be quite a large amount of time but overall quality is good :D
I'll check it out on my system tomorrow and see how some anime goes...or doctor who...

What files are you guys using? I used AnyDVD to rip a Blu-ray and pointed Vidcoder to the folder structure but it estimates 1 day for encoding. Is this conversion time frame normal or am I missing something? Thanks.

In Zune you must see "Syncing" if you see converting it's because your custom encoding preset are not compatible with device. What settings are you using ?

I use the Iphone Preset. And it does say Syncing and not converting. I've had it take over an hour to sync a movie, I spent three hours in Handbrake converting
What is the size of your movie ? My 1 GB movie take me maybe 5 to 10 min max to sync on my omnia 7.

I add another config file with fastest encoding. With 1 pass only. I disable the 2 pass settings. Grab it in first post.

It's under 1 GB. That's why I use Handbrake first. To try and shrink the size. I tried putting a movie on the phone the was 1.3 GB. It took so long I thought Zune had stop working. Took 4 days. On the 4th day, I just let Zune run for five hours. I asked before, What are the times for conversion?

Try on another computer and use another usb port on your computer. You have a big problem.

Please, i need advice, urgent.

I am studying for a cisco certification, i have some training videos on wmv format, i thought that they would be transfered automatically to my lg optimus 7 without been reencoded by zune, it was not the case, zune reencoded the files with some terrible quality, and it took forever to convert a 15 mb files, i saw this how to guide, i followed it, i was not able to use your first preset because it would take more than 1 hour per file, i tried the wp7fast preset, the files were converted succesfully, the problem comes when i try to transfer the files to my mobile, still zune reencodes the files it takes about 2 or 3 minutes to encode a file but when i try to play the file on the mobile, it does not play, it stays at 00:00 and does not start, is there any option i need to select to avoid zune encoding the files, a funny thing is that the original files are playable on wp7, how do i know that?, because i used tonido to transfer a file to my phone and it played very well, the problem is that tonido does not show the video fullscreen and it is a hell of a slow process because the files are transfered through the tonido servers so the process depends on my upload speed, which is 500kb, i need the files on my phone so i can watch them on my way to work and whenever i can. I used your wp7 fast preset exactly as it was created by you.

I hope you can give me an advice. Thanks.

Nice tutorial there... I'm running some random vids through to check out the quality...

I normally use AVS video converter and I usually encode to 1500 or 3000 bitrate depending on the source and what the vid is... I did some tests on the battle scenes of avatar and I'm sure the 3000 bitrate was noticeably better... When I play people the avatar clip peoples jaws always drop...

Either way it seems an easy to use app... Nice one...
Doing that as well (AVS) at about 2500 bitrate but my 1080p music vid recently came out letterboxed on the Focus. Should the Zoom be full and aspect ration 16:9?

funny as i had converted UP awhile back which filled the screen.

AVS Video Converter has aspect ratio changes... Depending on what version you use will depend on where the aspect ratio changes will be...

I'm using 7.1 and its located in "Advanced"... You can set source aspect, output aspect and zoom to crop... Click along the video timeline to check the crop is correct...

Yikes I was looking at Xilisoft Video Converter and had AVS on the brain. Now i think i recall trimming but AVS hangs a tad under win 7 x64 for me

Anyone here have a problem when playing the video on your Windows Phone?
I use this menthod to encode a "Shooter" Movie (578x234), NO SUB, and having a problem with low FPS when viewing the movie on my HD7, cause the sound go far above the image of the movie.I have to pause and then press play again.
The movie is about 2 hrs long.

If you encode the video using Expression Encoder 4, Zune won't re-encode it and it will just transferred to the phone quickly. I tried 4000kbps and it's still playing fine (no lag at all).

Problem is, some videos got error when I tried to encode it. Looks like codec problem.

Workaround is to convert it to mp4 using another encoder software (xilisomething or anything will do), then re-encode it with Expression Encoder.

Thanks a lot for your guide! By the way, at 500 kbps, the video gets compressed to less than 100 MB, without seriously affecting the quality!
