When I first did mine on my 2018 civic I had to do a hard reboot forget which keys need to be held
Also before I did it I think I had to factory reset the head unit

The channels of the radio has frequency steps of 200Hz, which is the standard in USA. However, I am using the car outside of USA and here they use a step of 100Hz. Is there a way to change this frequency step from 20Hz to 100Hz using honda hack?

Hello all,

DSP Flat / EQ Off can be achieved, easily!

Attached here is the stand alone apk made with Tasker. Simply install the apk, allow root permissions, and let it run. This changes DSP to Flat / Eq Off. You'll have to run the program every time you start the car, I have a shortcut on my home screen.

Thanks to @panchox for the initial logcat finding. I tried all kinds of stuff with kmod ect. and found this was the simplest solution. This apk is just like the video @shinemonmond posted but, I made it myself because I got sick of waiting for others to post this.

so you mention by installing the dsp flat apk to automatically make the adjustment, for you, you must run it upon every start up.. can I just manually make the adjustments one time and be good?

When long press the AUDIO button to do a cold reboot, there's a small chance to enter the Software Update UI (the recovery). Just wait about 20 to 30 minutes and the HU will reboot properly. According to my test, this also happens on the stock system so it is a normal behavior.

Yes, the wireless root method does root the HU. It will not corrupt the system. But do not use other apps which require root privilege unless you know what they do exactly. Do not modify the system files, for example, try installing Google play services or Google account manager.

To unroot, just use any root file explorer to remove /system/xbin/su and do a factory data reset. There may be a few files left in the system but they are harmless.

Greetings, I recently installed the hondahack app on my honda civic 2018, after rooting with laptop and everything was fine, then I installed the Newpipe app to play music and after doing this it was a bit slow so I did a I restarted and when I uploaded again the system update message appeared, how can I solve it?

Hi Guys I have a problem with my honda fk8 civic type R 2018

its stuck on the honda logo and wont go pass that its been like this for a few days and is becoming rather annoying now

i have tried a few things as listed below

1. unplugged the battery both positive and negative for the following durations 10mins / 15mins/1 hour / 2 hour all this did was put on all the warning lights which go away after a short drive.
2. i have tried pressing the power button for various durations and still nothing
3. the power button and the menu button and still nothing for various durations
4. i have done the usb drive with the receovery.sh file and still nothing on both the front and centre console usb ports also i have waited for various times 3 minutes 5 minutes 10 minutes and 15 minutes and still nothing on both the ports.
5. i have done pretty much all sort as listed above both whilst the car is in auxillary mode and started on idle.


is their anyone that can assist or knows what can be done

meanwhile guys like Franco advertise their "premium" kernel features with paid content. and you tolerate this.

anybody can decide if he wants to spend money on Honda Hack or not. it's a super useful feature and you "cancel" it on XDA.

I know this is going back to an old subject, but I'll ask, since I'm poor at searching. 2017 Accord EXL, in the developer option/diagnosis screen, one can look at the EQ settings for the audio system. I see three "buttons" at the top of the screen , read settings from usb, read settings from shp2, write settings to shp2. I don't see a way to edit those settings via the touchscreen. Is there an way to change the settings via usb to write them to the factory head unit? there is no option on the '17 Accord to set dsp to anything

how i reinstall honda hack after factory reset and upgraded firmware to 1F.197.60

my radio was having issues so i factory reset and upgraded firmware to 1F.197.60.
test the radio and everything was working fine. music was playing with android auto.
next thing i wanna do is have it rooted with honda hack. got to autohack.org/root page and enter the code i got from before and it stuck on the "processing, DO NOT close the browser".waited like 20 minutes everytime i tried but it didnt work. found a solution on the XDA site but it didnt work . here is how i did it.

the following was copy and paste from XDA member with the last few lines written by me

press on the green color CODE button and download zip and extract

Navigate to the Honda Civic developer mode in the head unit and enable USB debugging.
Go to the Android settings and click ‘About’.
Click on the build number seven times.
You will get a prompt ‘please enter a passcode’.
Now click the 4 top items in the order 1, 4, 2, 3 and you’ll enable the developer mode.


Change the USB mode to ‘device’ from ‘host’ in the head unit.
Press the power, brightness button, and menu together till
you get a new menu with two options.
Open the bottom option which is named as ‘detailed information and settings’.
Enter another menu by holding the menu key.
Enter the last menu by holding the home key.
You will hear two beeps consecutively and one last beep after that.

Now you can connect your laptop using the USB A to A cable.
You will now be able to connect your laptop to the front of Android Auto/CarPlay port.
Change the USB port mode from ‘host’ to ‘device’.

The laptop will automatically start installing the drivers and
you can check whether you’re connected by typing ‘ADB devices’
and it will show up in the head unit.

Now run the following script to root the head unit.
If everything goes correctly you will see ‘success’ in the end.

Mac/Linux: ./root.sh
Windows: root.bat
Restart the head unit and in the app list you will see SuperSU (v2.78).
Run this script to install the app:
Mac/Linux: ./install.sh file.apk
Windows: install.bat file.apk

here is when the problem comes for me... i click the root.bat waited a couple minutes ,then i click the install.bat file.apk ,it pop up and disappeared and my head unit screen start to blink ,looks like its froze.
touch screen and touch keys dont work . i turn off the car off and waited a few minutes, turn it back on and see the green screen. turn it off then back on and its booting up..after checking the app list for the superSU app but its not there.i turn off the car and try all the step over again and this time the superSU app appears. after that i click on the web browser and go to autohack.org/root and enter the code add this time within 2 minutes the hondahack app pop up .then i just follow the screen instrutions with the reboot and set up all my apps.
