you flashed a 2.2 kernel on a 2.1 rom...thats why it wouldnt boot

if you were already on 2.1, you did NOT need to odin flash a kernel, just install clockwork recovery and reboot to recovery, proceed to flashing the rom
Tyvm, and after flahs the rom, in this case andromeda3, should i flash the ursa minor kernel or just leave it alone?

did you boot back into recovery and flash a new rom?

what rom were you on and what have you done to get where you are?

when someone needs help, they need to post DETAILS on what has happened up to this point. we cant guess at what you have done...

okay sorry I was using the adb to go into download mode (because 3 button fix does not work at all) and i used odin and everything was fine but then ursa minor gave me the screen that said ursa minor and then said risky operation and powering off and powering on doing the same thing. I was on 2.2 when i was doing this

Eyya guys, i have been studying for the past three days on how to and what do do about rooting my Samsung Captivate S SGH-I897 with (KB2) and 3e recovery. ( i know it has been an issue getting this thing to root correctly)...I have followed the video(The one in the beginning of this thread from outleradam) stopping and replaying and so on and so on.....everything went fine until i got to the reboot process where i am supposed to boot with Andromeda ROM.....I simply do not have that option. I can reboot system now and choose from SD card but when i select "choose from SD Card" thats when i do not have the option to select the Andromeda Rom to boot into?

I have wrote down every step from beginning to end and probably know the video inside and out. I just never caught the area when i was supposed to apply the andromeda rom?

Any and all help with this minor part that i missed will be GREATFULLY REMEMBERED and i may even send you a christmas card this year too!

Make sure you are putting the rom on the internal sd card and not the external sd card.
Also are you getting into clockwork recovery it the regular recovery?

when i use ROM manager then clockwork recovery is at the top of the app....and its telling me "i must have clockwork mod installed to flash and restore ROM's".

or are you talking about when i rebooted ? If so then i believe i rebooted from the regular recovery.....nothing about clockwork until now...

BTW i have already used TI back up and finished that and rebooted the system...

---------- Post added at 11:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 PM ----------

Also i have removed the external sd card from the beginning so i didnt make that mistake in the early stages.

Also could i possibly reconnect the phone to PC and manually add the Andromeda .Zip that way? then 3button reboot to get the finished product?

when i go through rom manager and start the install from SD card i can see the andromeda zip file.....but when i look from the recovery boot i cant see it.....

Can i install from the sd card under ROM manager the andromeda3-final.zip? or will this throw me somewhere i dont wanna be?

ROM Manager is nearly worthless on this phone!

why are people using it?

A. STICK ROM ON INTERNAL SD CARD. YOU CAN DO THIS FROM YOUR PC

B. FLASH A CWM KERNEL IN VIA ODIN

C. REBOOT TO RECOVERY. INSTALL ZIP FROM SDCARD. POINT TO YOUR ROM ZIP. CONFIRM AND FLASH. REBOOT AFTERWARDS

its not complicated. just STOP using ROM manager

Please excuse me for this question. I just worked 18 hours straight and just can't read this whole thread. I just need this question answered before I flash. Do I have to flash ursaminor before the ROM. Or does the Andromeda3full.zip contain everything I need? Thanks.

what if you already have voodoo lagfix installed? Do you need Ursa minor? I'm running froyo 2.2 rooted with voodoo lagfix. Thanks.
