1. easy. instructions are in first posttake out battery
put in battery.
hold both volume buttons
press and hold power
keep all 3 held for 5 seconds

2. gingerbread bootloaders can be flashed at any time. they work with ALL roms. only needs to be done once ever.

3. no. but why would you install ki2 ? kk4 is the latest. gingerbread LEAK.
yes all gingerbread att "stocks" for the captivate are beta leaks. not official.
so if you are going to run a leak version might as well be the newest leak. KK4. there is no "one click" for it but you can odin flash it with the flasher in my guide. and get the file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357848&highlight=stock+kk4
un-rar
get the ..........>...>..HOMEBINARY.tar.md5 file and put in PDA slot of odin.
click start.

includes bootloaders.

So Cal
@TRusselo,

I found a one-click odin stock uckk4 on here:

i897uckk4 Odin One Click - Stock, CONTAINS Bootloaders, Re-partition, Full Wipe

Would you recommend to flash it this way or your way using odin 1.7 in your guide. I also wasnt able to un-rar your download and wondering what you use to do it or if Im doing something wrong. I also read that GB roms have random reboots, is that a huge issue or can it be avoidable. Thanks.

you can use the 1 click Odin or this method in my thread. Doesn't matter.

you weren't able to unrar it because you didn't read the password right under the link that you clicked....

random reboots are a hardware problem and will happen before gingerbread. I've never had an issue.

Need help in Upgrading UCJI6 to Gingerbread

Hello
I have captivate from at&T ( I897). I upgraded last year from eclair to froyo UCJI6 from some site.

Please can some one guide me step by step how to get latest gingerbread. I never had gingerbread on my phone. Upgrading from UCJI6 scares me.

Your help would mean a lot to me.

Thanks
Dillon

So Cal
Thanks for your hardwork. This guide has been helpful for me. Im on GB UCKK4 now and it's really good and stable. To root however, i read to use fuguroot, but do you have to have extract the zImage.root.tar file and the stock UCKK4 kernel, or do you just place it in the PDA slot? Thanks again.

if you are unable to follow the instructions that are already in this thread and unable to read the other answers to your questions that are already here.... do not flash your phone, because you will create a paperweight.

if you are unable to read then you should not be able to flash

I've got to ask, why didn't you follow the instructions on the download page for Serendipity VII? They are so simple....don't mess around with Talon until you have the ROM actually up and running.

There are two files to download. You've flashed the Gingerbread bootloaders, now you have to flash the actual ROM.

Please do more reading and studying before you go any further.

please read the XDA new user guide. Find out what "Stickies" are, and where to find them in EACH forum section. then read the stickies for captivate general, q&a and development sections, then you will have LOTS LESS questions....

all custom roms allow non-market apps
