[GUIDE] How to get rid of the RCS icon (Nougat)

Good day,

I think some of us experience the new rcs / storm icon in the status bar after flashing a custom nougat touchwiz rom.
Since there is no built in option to hide or disable this icon I prepared a customized imsservice.apk for you.
The apk I have customized is the extracted one from SupermanRom 2.0. So it's deodexed!
This apk is the reason for the icon. I simply replaced the icons within the apk with dummy ones.

Thanks to @jovy23 and his mod which my "fix" is based on.
So:

1. Download the attached modified apk
2. Use a file explorer with root rights
3. Navigate to system/priv-app/imsservice
4. Replace the present apk with the downloaded one
5. Set the right permissions (rw-r-r-)
6. Reboot the phone
7. Be happy

-> I have only tested it on latest SupermanRom 2.1 which is deodexed!
-> Not tested on odexed roms yet!

There is a option to hide this icon build in.

Settings -> Connections -> More connection settings -> Advanced Calling & Messaging -> Turn off and the icon will disappear.

I don't got this option in the rom I'm using.
Maybe it is csc related, I'm on dbt.

Guide works like it should.

RCS setting can found in Phone setting, but can't turn logo off without changing imservice.apk
(Also DBT)

Not available here on DBT either. Also, I would just like to remove the icon, not turn off RCS features.

I thank you so freaking much! This f**** up icon was the only reason I've flashed BTU (I'm on superman v2.0 too and neither have advanced settings whatsoever).

Hi bro I was on superman Rom V2.0 the one icon is removed but the Volte icon see Screenshot is not removed. Can u remove this too.

or did you just remove the icon?
is it possible to create different apks ...

for example: all icons removed / only RCS icon removed / RCS and VoLTE removed and so on ...

If it helps anyone, I had problems copying the file to the imservice folder because the System partition wouldn't mount as writable. You're able to mount it as writable in TWRPs internal filemanager (in recovery mode).
