Because it need to be modify in ramdisk. Flash custom Rom or a kernel with proper fixes
Don't you think that's a bit weird?

I followed every instruction on first page to the letter and there was nothing said about having to flash a custom Rom or kernel to fix a problem that apparently occurs when you flash twrp.
Old topics about flashing twrp also never point out to install a custom Rom or kernel because flashing twrp gives a problem.

If what you say is correct... Why not warn people on forehand about problems that could occur with /data after twrp flash.

If I knew on forehand that flashing twrp would result in flashing a Rom or kernel also... I would have the opportunity to make a better decision on going on with it or leave it all as is.

It's not my tutorial. Problem is magisk and compatibility with Samsung Oreo. Just flash supersu and your problem will be gone ?

I followed the instructions and installed TWRP fine. The only problem I have is that the touch screen is totally unresponsive and no matter what I do I can't do anything with TWRP. I tried a reboot and its still the same. I went back to Oreo with Odin as I needed my phone straight away.

Why would this harken and what can I do to get it working. I'm in the UK with a S8+ if that makes any difference.

TWRP on S8+ Oreo Exp9. Failed to mount '/data' (No such process)
Never have had this problem on TWRP before. Neither on my S6E, S7E and S8+ , always updated on latest firmware, rooted and with perfect TWRP.

Until now ..... with latest OREO/exp 9 update .... . Cant make any backup / restore for _ Failed to mount '/data' (No such process)_

How I did try it (for almost two days):

1:Flash G955FXXU1CRB7/ G950FXXU1CRAP (samfirm and WRoid) with odin 3.13.1 / 3.12.3 and Prince
2:Flash TWRP 3.2.1-0 latest
3:Format Data ( yes) + also tried Wipe Data, and Internal Data, Dalvik & Cache
4: Reboot recovery and Flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
5:Flash Magisk 16 , later on also tried 15.3
6:Reboot
7. Setup and phone works fine

but when booting into Twrp afterwards and try to make f.e. a backup get a "Failed to mount '/data' (No such process)" notice .

Already Tried:
differet odins, firmwares , magisks , partitioning SD, re-formating micro SD ext 3 / ext 4
always same error message after rebooring and never can "mount data" afterwards .

HELP .
Tnx in advance ,
El

Hello folks, I just want to try this rooting option for my S8+ eu version. Since I„m currently on CRAP this will be ok to do:
Use Comsy Odin to flash latest TWRP
Boot into it, format data, flash no verity fix, flash a custom kernel (NX or maybe TGP), flash magisk, then try reboot?

I am also having an issue similar. I have flashed the OREO update (CRAP) and after formatting data in TWRP and then the No-Verity Script. This then shows the Internal storage. I can flash Magisk but when i next boot into TWRP it will show 0mb again?

I have done this now about 6 times. Its ok to start but then it reverts back to not being able to read internal storage?

Anyone know why?

Thanks

Im experiencing the same issue too.
0mb data and twrp recovery doesnt hold settings.

Flashed latest twrp from link in this thread and directly formatted data.

Twrp nandroid backup fails on cannot mount data.
Please help! Same here. Is there any solution to the problem described below?

and you flashed the no-verity script file? Sorry, I don't mean to be redundant - but others I have talked to had similar problems until they did that.
Even installing RMM STATE was locked again after reinstalling the ROM STOCK. What is the exact procedure to be done? To check if I did not do some wrong order. Here are the steps I did:

1. When you released RMM STATE I went into download mode and installed TWRP.
2. I rebooted my phone and logged on BOOT mode via TWRP.
3. In TWRP I installed the RMM STATE .zip.
4. Restart the normal system.
5. I installed my app, but it gave Cerberus an error, and when I rebooted and entered the TWRP the internal memory was 0.
6. I went into DOWNLOAD mode and reinstalled the ROM STOCK via ODIN.
7. When you restarted and finished the ROM installation process, it was already locked.

I was told in another forum that I had to install the Custom KERNEL! Does it have a connection?

I have not heard that custom kernel is required - but I know that you want to avoid rebooting the phone until you have flashed RMM State fix.

So the order I would do - Flash TWRP - Immediately Flash RMM State Fix. then flash whatever else you need to flash - if you flash a custom rom, be sure to flash the RMM State again - unless the Developer said the RMM State was included in the rom. (and to be honest, it can't hurt to flash the RMM State thing even if you don't need it . It won't hurt anything. All it does is remove an apk and change something in the build prop (I believe)

I am not a developer and am only sharing what I have read from others - but to the best of my knowledge, from what I have read - that is the best way to proceed.
the key is to avoid rebooting until you have RMM State fix taken care of. Hope that helps.

Good night, thank you for the answer.

Sorry for ignorance, but how do I install RMM STATE without TWRP?
Because TWRP I installed via odin in download mode, would RMM STATE also be installed via odin? If so, would it be by the AP button?

That's where I'm lost!

A simple guide for users which will help them to install TWRP on their S8 after Oreo Update.

This guide is only for Exynos models.

Requirement -
1. PC/Laptop
2. Original Samsung USB Type-C Cable
3. Prince Comsy Odin (Because some users reported on this thread that normal Odin doesn't work)

Instructions -
1. Backup your important data from internal storage before proceeding towards the installation.
2. Now go to Settings - About Phone - Software Information - Tap On Build Number 7 Times.
3. Now come back to Settings Home and Open Developer Options. Check OEM Unlock is turned ON.
4. Power off device and boot into download mode.
5. Connect your device to the PC/Laptop.
6. Now Open Prince Comsy Odin and click on the AP option.
7. Choose the TWRP .tar file and press the START button.
8. Now after Odin says PASS, press the VOLUME UP, BIXBY KEY, and POWER BUTTON at the same time until device boots into TWRP recovery.
9. Now allow the modifications and go to WIPE option.
10. Choose FORMAT DATA - Type yes - ENTER.
11. Just Reboot Once Into Recovery Once.
12. Now Choose INSTALL option and install Magisk or SuperSU.
13. Done!

Need to update the RMM STATE information!
you flash TWRP via odin and once you have finished flashing twrp, boot into recovery (Be sure to turn off auto reboot in odin) then reboot into recovery (hold power, volume down and bixby until screen goes dark then holding the bixby and powerdown move the other to volume up and hold until it reboots in twrp. WHen you first boot into twrp be sure to format data and flash no dm verity. DO not reboot - then flash RMM State - now you can flash a rom or reboot to stock.

Hope this helps

The only thing I did differently was the installation order.

Upon entering TWRP, I installed RMM STATE, NO-VERITY, SUPERSU.

You wrote NO-VERITY, RMM STATE, and then in my case SUPERSU at the end.

Was that the problem?

When you first intall TWRP - the files are encrypted - so you need to format data and then install No Verity immediately before you do anything else. Once you have done that - then you can flash the kernel or the RMM State - whatever - just don't reboot first.

SO let's start over. tell me, what problem are you having. What is happening with your phone

Thank you very much. Then I found out where I went wrong.
Because I formatted the DATA folder correctly, but I installed RMM STATE first, then NO-VERITY.
When I release, I'll try again.
