Thanks for your helpful guide. I had some issues with boosted bass configuration in viper4android which dropped the volume on each audio sequence with more bass. It sounded very unnatural. For guys facing the same issue, my solution was to get rid of (uninstall in Magisk) Audio Compatibility Patch which caused my bass-boosted configuration to limit volume when more bass came in.

I am having the same problem of dropped volume when the bass goes high.
I tried your solve, but no avail.
Right now I only have the V4A module installed and nothing else, but the volume throttle still happens.

I have Ainur Sauron, Audio Modification Library and V4A modules installed. Steps 3 - 5 from the OP. No idea whether Ainur Sauron has any effect at all, but with those modules the volume throttle has gone.

I do have a question though, V4A won't start processing when my phone is connected via Android Auto. Is there a way around this?

Thanks for this guide, it helped me a lot! There is a catch though, after disconnecting a bluetooth device, V4a driver status shows 'unsupported' - kill V4a and restart fixes it though.

Question - with many ROMs including vendor firmware now, do I still need to do this procedure? Or is it moot? I know I can test and try but thought of asking before to of a wipe/flash/restore process. (I always clean flash)

Does anyone face that v4a stops working suddenly. v4a status says processing no and stays the same on enabling/disabling it, only fix is to restart the phone which also doesn't work sometime. Then it starts working again after a while. Earlier this thing rarely used to happen, but its happening lot frequently now especially on wired earphones. BT most of the times is fine.

Is there a fix for it or a better solution than restarting the phone?

I'm on crdroid BTW with ainur sauron ,audio modification library and audio compatibility patch applied along with v4a (as per guide) and use musicxmatch as music player..

I think its something related to live display. For the last 2 months I was using crdroid v5.8 0919 build which had some issues with live display rendering it not to work. Interestingly on this build I had zero issues with viper. It was working flawlessly for past 2 months.

Now i flashed crdroid v5.10 and the same issue came back. I normally use digital wellbeing windown to turn on grayscale display at scheduled times. When it is turned on v4a stops working. To make it working again you have to have to restart phone back.
Turning live display off also isn't a sure shot fix, this issue comes back occasionaly although much less frequently.
