Tried to update to ics with Kies for replacement but that program is so useless. It won't even connect to my phone. Driver issues after driver issues. So I just left it at 2.3.4.

Would have preferred to send it back with ics though.

This wonderful thread had to be sticky because the first and second posts is like thesaurus and connects many useful posts so I requested Moderator VeNum to make it sticky and he kindly accepted....

Creepy,

Please forgive my noob question but I would like to know how to get back to ICS after having used your extremely helpful guide to flashing the UCKH7 firmware.

To give you a quick background on my situation, I purchased my phone new a couple months ago, got it on my lunch break, had it for roughly 5 hours, came home and updated to ICS using Kies. A few days later I rooted it by flashing Siyah 3.4.2 and figured out how to use CWM and flashed up to Siyah 4.1.1 a few days ago. I discovered that hulu+ and Crackle wouldn't play videos so this morning I decided to make a nandroid back up and do a factory reset to try and "start over".......which bricked my phone. That's when your guide was brought to my attention and I now have a functioning phone again (THANK YOU for that!!) but Kies tells my that I'm already on the latest firmware. Do I need to flash the UCLE5 firmware as you describe in detail here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181 in order get ICS back on my phone? Is that the only way I can do it?

I would also like to say that aside from the issue I was having with those two specific apps every Siyah kernel I used worked just fine and since using your method to get my phone up and running again Crackle still doesn't work quite right, it just plays sound as if the video is playing but no actual video. I've come to realize that for how little I use hulu+ and Crackle all this wasn't worth it and I'd actually be happy to get my phone back to stock ICS with Siyah and CWM on it again.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I also read your opinion linked near the start of the thread and it sounds like the risk of the eMMC error is minimal so I'm willing to give it a go.

I'm not familiar with Hulu+ and Crackle so I can't answer about that. I usually don't watch movies on my phone, except for netflix.

If you want stock ICS UCLE5, use the stock plus root available in the development section. That will include the stock kernel, just like Kies would, except it's pre rooted. Then flash your siyah kernel, or whatever custom kernel you want.

In the interest of trying to do my small part to contribute and give thanks when it's due I'd like to report that I was able to flash the UCLE5 without a hitch and want to thank you once again creepyncrawly for your comprehensive and easy to follow guide. I then installed Hulu+ and Crackle to test their function on the stock ICS firmware and kernel and I was getting the exact same errors as I was getting when I was using the Siyah kernels.

I have now got my phone back to exactly where it was (with the exception of the flash counter which is now up to like 8 I think) and it is all because of the two completely thorough sets of instructions by creepyncrawly! Thank you one more time sir.

Hi there

Firstly, big thanks to creepyncrawly for all the help on this thread. I've used the guide to restore my phone to stock a number of times successfully.

This time however Odin keeps hanging during the process. The green bar gets to around 7% and just stays there flashing.

The message I get is:
<ID:0/068> Added!!
<ID:0/068> Odin v.3 engine (ID:68)..
<ID:0/068> File analysis..
<ID:0/068> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/068> Initialzation..
<ID:0/068> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/068> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/068> factoryfs.img

I've tried this a number of times and have even tried switching usb ports but to no avail. (screenie attached)

**Also, msg displayed on my phone now is "Firmware upgrade encourntered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies& try again.

Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@Gurumi,

Can't really say much without knowing what the state of the phone before you tried to flash back to stock. What was the issue that makes you want to flash stock? What firmware was installed? etc.

Thanks. I was on AOKP (ICS and had been on this for 2 months) and was charging my battery when my phone suddenly died. I tried powering on but the phone would always freeze during boot-animation. I tried booting into recovery to perform a NAND backup but encountered an error -> something about unable to back-up data. I tried rebooting into recovery again but CWM would would come up blank i.e. no options to scroll through.

After all of the above I tried to reflash stock with Odin and haven't had much luck.

This morning I tried performing an Emergency Recovery through Kies as well as another round through Odin and now my phone is bricked :( :(

I haven't tried getting into download mode with the battery out (will do when I get home) so not too sure how bricked my beloved phone is :(

Also try a usb jig if you have access to one.

You can't do anything unless you can get it into download mode. Even then, I'm not sure what to suggest. Obviously flashing the stock isn't working. Maybe the full stock with param.lfs and secondary bootloader from the Download Repository might flash through. Worth a try. I assume you're flashing 2.3.4 stock. After that, you could maybe try flashing full stock with repartition checked and the pit file from the Download Repository in the pit slot (using Odin, not the one-click downloader).

I just flashed my phone with the one click installer and everything went okay. However now it boot Loops and when I try to do a factory reset it asks for a password. I have no idea what password it wants

Each time it asks for a password, leave the password field blank and accept the prompt. Repeat the process 4 or 5 times, and it will bypass the password and complete the factory reset.

I figured that out. At first I was afraid to continue through them taht it may initiate a wipe, then I realized that is what i wanted lol.

Thanks!

Much thanks to those involved in writing this guide and creating the materials required to perform it. Works well, and confirmed for me that my power button is failing on my i777, and it wasn't the custom rom i was running having some weird effect.

Again, much thanks.

wi/fi after I777UCKH7-CL503881-No-BL

Thanks for all the hard work on the odin one step, but I had a problem.

I just rec. the phone (sgh i777) from ebay that looked completely stock and running uckh6. Kies told me not eligable for update though and so I flashed to I777UCKH7-CL503881-No-BL via odin one step figuring that the stock kernal had been modified someway and needing to get to the point that Kies would give me the official ICS.
Everything went smoothly on flashing and the phone operates great except that the wifi is no longer working. It will turn on and scan but then turns itself off.
Also Kies no longer gives me the message that I cant upgrade...it now states that I have the latest firmware, LOL. I would really like to get the official ICS release on this thing, but at the very least I need to get wifi back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.......
