I am of the same opinion! I do not want to use kingroot as I do not trust Chinese apps that have such a big influence on the phone...I'm aware of this, but I don't personally trust Kingroot. It sends your device IMEI to a server in China and installs their own Superuser app (KingUser) and several other Chinese apps.
This method is clean and installs a trusted Superuser solution (SuperSU). If you want to use Kingroot, that's fine but I don't recommend it personally.

To be honest, I haven't tried it. I just unlocked my bootloader to root.I am of the same opinion! I do not want to use kingroot as I do not trust Chinese apps that have such a big influence on the phone...
I have asked this question several times in the "Lollipop roll-out startet"-thread, yet nobody has answered it... I try it here once more:
Does the method described in this thread also work for 5.0.2 or is kingroot the only way to get root on 5.0.2? I would like to flash 5.0.2 but only if there is an easy and more importantly save way to get root...
Flashing the .230 Kernel will cause a boot loop on the XZ...To be honest, I haven't tried it. I just unlocked my bootloader to root.
If you want to try, then the worst that will happen is that you'll have to reflash your firmware using Flashtool.

Pretty much, yes. Until NUT fixes his Locked dual recovery. But if you can unlock your bootloader, why not do it? Surely warranty has run out by now. And besides, you will still have your TA backup which you would have taken when you rooted your device on kkFlashing the .230 Kernel will cause a boot loop on the XZ...
So it does not work. Well, then there is unlocking the bootloader and kingroot, right?
There's no unofficial method, so you have to get the unlock code from Sony.Same here... My waranty expires in July... By the way, you can backup DRM keys... I am just a bit worried that I would brick the device, that is why I do not want to unlock the bootloader... do I actually have to go to that sony page and enter my IMEI number to unlock or is there an "inofficial" way?
If you have an unlocked bootloader, then it's easy to root. You simply flash a kernel with integrated recovery via fastboot then flash a SuperSU zip.Does this even work with an unlocked BL?
Sry for asking, but all i found was unclear....
EDIT: I didn't saw a post ^^

i have unlocked my bootloader from official sony site but dont know how to confirm whether its really unlocked, i had lost all my data.
Thank you for your great contribution to the Sony devices, and good luck with HTC ONE M9. Every now and then it is good to take on a new challenge, keeps you in balance. Best reguards..OK guys. Some news.
My carrier called me as I'm long past upgrade time and offered me an unbeatable deal on an HTC One M9. I accepted and now have the device. I love Sony devices, but felt like a change this time.
I'll leave this thread open and will continue to offer support in here.
Thanks everyone for making the Z community a great place.![]()
