Flashing

Because you are only flashing the kernel from an earlier firmware version. This is not altering anything else and that's why it only takes seconds. :)

Read the first post.

Dear kingvortex

As per the instructions I have downloaded followings

Flashtool and ADB drivers - Installed
Flashtool
Easy Root
Xperiaz_10.5.A.0.230_kernel_only.ftf
XperiaZ_10.5.1.A.0.283_kernel_only.ftf

Can you kindly send me the instructions of how to use this flash tools.
Because I have never done it before.

Am really sorry for the inconvenience.

Basically -
1. Install Flashtool.
2. Open Flashtool.
3. Press the lightning bolt icon.
4. Select "Flashmode".
5. Browse to and select the 230 kernel only FTF file.
6. Press "Flash".
7. Power your phone off.
8. Hold volume DOWN and connect the USB to the PC while still holding the volume down key. You can release the volume down key when flashing commences.
9. Wait until the kernel is flashed and it says you can disconnect your device. Disconnect it and power it on.

Then run Easy Root and follow the on screen instructions.

When you're rooted, follow the instructions above and flash the 283 or 292 kernel only ftf, depending on your installed firmware version.

If you needed different kernels for the C6602/C6603, then I would have provided them.

Thank you very much for the guidance. I have successfully rooted my phone..

But there is a problem when I try to copy a font file in to the. Syetem/Font folder. Its not allowing me to copy the file.

hi, i was using your method but sadly it didnt work.

When i was in the rooting part, after opening exroot it says"tr.apk not found. Trying to download.....". It cannot connect to the site afterwards, im in my office and the network is restricted. This is most definitely the reason, couldnt download it with the phone either in the website.

So i tried the flashtool root tool, it was supousedly working ok, but at one point it said root finished, rebooting.... and nothing happened, i rebooted manually, flashed the .283 kernel no problem. (superuser was in the app list so i assumed root was ok)

I tought process was over but realized the root didnt work ok, rootchecker says root is not complete and i cant get access trough flashtool as it just says root access denied but i dont get any message on the phone other than "shell has been granted superuser permissions".

Finally i tried to install supersu instead of superuser but it just said, failed try again after reboot.
Got any thoughts? sorry for all the rambling, im thinking of trying to unroot but not qute sure where to go now.

Reboot and open SuperSu again. It should update the binaries then.

If not, do it somewhere that Internet isn't restricted. The steps in the guide work fine.
