Try going to menu - settings- applications - manage applications - all tab, find the superuser app and stop it, and then clear its data. Then try to flash this su thru recovery http://dinc.does-it.net/Superuser/SuperUser_3.1.1.zip. Also wipe cache and dalvik-cache while in recovery.Same outcome. Got it to work by erasing everything from step 12 and on and using the second file instead. Don't update superuser from the play store! Now however, I am stuck on step 29. When I try to put the two files on the sd card I am given a notification that I do not have enough space for this. Do I need to go buy a bigger SD card? The current card is only 2GBI did what you said but now it gives me a pop up notification that super user is not responding. And I get the option to force close or wait. I tried waiting a couple times, got bored so closed, cleared cache from setting>apps and still getting the same message to force close or wait.
Thanks for helping me with this. I know it hasn't gotten anywhere yet but I would have no idea what to do.
Edit: The binary update has been trying to gain root access for at least an hour now and still not working. Its getting on my nerves
How are you trying to put them on? Adb push, mounted thru recovery, thru the disk drive option of the os? 2gb should be enough, the files arent that big only 715kb. Umm I don't what the technical term would be but when I connect the phone in USB debugging mode and my computer asks if I want open the folder to view files, I transfer the 2 files from my computer. When booted and you connect it to the pc, it should ask what type of connection you want. If it doest ask select it from the notification bar. Select disk drive. This will make 3 new drives on the pc. One is a cd drive that installs vzw bloatware on your pc, ignore it. The second is emmc, and the third is the sd card. If it still wont let you put the files on there, i would reformat the sdcard and try again.Umm I don't what the technical term would be but when I connect the phone in USB debugging mode and my computer asks if I want open the folder to view files, I transfer the 2 files from my computer. I guess I am opening the wrong partition by using this method. I also tried by going into recovery mode, mounting the sd card and transferring the two files and then doing the cmd prompt stuff but it doesn't work.
So now on step 32 I get this error message:When booted and you connect it to the pc, it should ask what type of connection you want. If it doest ask select it from the notification bar. Not sure what that means, but it sounds bad. It appears you did everything correctly. The error to me sounds like it is saying the misc partition is corrupt. But i dont think it is or else i dont think the phone would boot. Try rebooting the phone and doing that last line of 32 again. Your so close, dont give up now.So now on step 32 I get this error message:
Is it just me or am I having more trouble than most people? I checked the space and I have 1.86GB on SD card, 6.60 GB internal, 640MB on phone memory, and 138MB application data space available. Yea I got stuck and then didn't have to get back to it until now. I am wondering if I want to root it do I start over? I have a new memory card I am using now so it doesn't some of the things that needed to be put on the memory card. Not sure what that means, but it sounds bad. It appears you did everything correctly. Flash the SOff script and just run the latest pb31img script which would be GBI got through to step 38 without any problems, but after rebooting my phone, I'm stuck in a bootloop on the Droid screen.
I've tried a couple of things like going ahead and using the unlock code again, flashing recovery and even so far as flashing CM7 through recovery to see if it would unstick, but even with CM7, I get stuck at the logo screen with a bootloop. Factory Reset just kicks me to recovery, where I've done a reset a couple of times to no avail.
I've formatted my SD card to FAT32 and tried to load the PB31IMG again, but after reading the file, my phone doesn't prompt me to update like it did the first time. So I;m kinda stuck and would love a little expertise to get me through this.![]()
I'm new to all of this, but no matter how much googling I did I couldn't find an s-off script. Mind pointing me in the right direction?Flash the SOff script and just run the latest pb31img script which would be GB

Flash this in recovery http://dinc.does-it.net/Guide_Root_New_Hboot/unrevoked-forever.zipI'm new to all of this, but no matter how much googling I did I couldn't find an s-off script. Mind pointing me in the right direction?
I can't flash unrevoked. It fails with this error:Flash this in recovery
Then flash this pb31img like the others
Then you can just flash a recovery and install a custom ROM

Are you using clockwork out teamwin .. Use clockwork for itI can't flash unrevoked. It fails with this error:
E:Error in /sdcard/unrevoked-forever.zip
(status 6)
Installation aborted.
I've tried a few different downloads of unrevoked to make sure it wasn't a corrupt file...
I'm using clockwork, but for some reason that specific download of unrevoked wasn't working for me. I went to the unrevoked website and got the most recent download and it worked no problem. Are you using clockwork out teamwin .. Use clockwork for it

Redownload the cm7 zip you may have a bad downloadI'm using clockwork, but for some reason that specific download of unrevoked wasn't working for me. I went to the unrevoked website and got the most recent download and it worked no problem.
So now I'm unlocked, s-off and got the PB31IMG file you linked me to all loaded up, flashed clockwork, flashed CM7, and then I still get stuck in a bootloop.![]()
Tried it. I even grabbed 7.1 instead of 7.2 just to make sure. Still stuck in a bootloop.Redownload the cm7 zip you may have a bad download

Yeah man ... Try flashing incredikernel for aosp GB ROMs at incredikernel.com and flash the gappsTried it. I even grabbed 7.1 instead of 7.2 just to make sure. Still stuck in a bootloop.
Strangely, when I'm flashing CM7, it doesn't take very long or go through a lot of installation processes like when I installed it on my old Captivate. It just reads the file for a minute, goes through one progress bar, then says it's successfully installed. But I'm still stuck in a bootloop.
I don't know if this is relevant, but the reason I'm doing this is because it was my sister's phone and she got a new one. When she tried to do a factory reset on this one, all of the apps, images and all of her personal data was still on the phone. I read around and rooting and flashing a ROM seemed like one of the best ways to fix this.
Not sure if that would point to the root of the issue.
Thanks for taking the time to help me, by the way.![]()
