Hi,
Do you have the 11.0.6.9 EU boot.img patched?
I'm very interesting because I tried to patch mine and it doesn't work.

Try this just extracted it from my phone (and hopefully it was the right slot)

It's works very well with your file. (with the cmd Fastboot flash boot)

If i try cmd 'fastboot boot magisk-patched' & 'install direct' with Magisk, when i reboot i lost the root.

I don't why but when i try to make my magisk-patched.img the file is only 43mo. (with a boot.img 96mo)
With the cmd 'Fastboot boot magisk-patched.img' I can access with my phone but without root

Hi,

I just updated to the latest version for my EU op8t (11.0.6.9) , and since the update System settings have completely disappeared !! There's no settings icon anymore !!

Also, whenever i try to check "app info" for any app, nothing happens, and i get an error saying "services keeps stopping" .
I'm rooted with magisk, but that is working fine after the update.

Please someone give me any type of solution, as the phone is pretty much useless, without being able to change any kind of Setting (wifi, bluetooth, info, etc).

How can i manually reflash this the previous version from fastboot ? I have downloaded the full OTA, but i don't know the command, and also if it's possible to go to a previous version without losing data ?

Or maybe it's better if i reflash it from stock recovery (if possible) , or any app, if there's any ?

Have you tried wiping the cache from stock recovery?

If that is not working you should be able to extract the partition images from the full OTA using payload dumper and flashing them using fastbootd.

I had the exact same problem. Any Sub Entry unter Settings crashed the settings, also app infos were not available anymore. Happened after upgrading to 11.0.6.8

I'm sorry to say that i tried everything(also using payload dumper to manually flash new Full rom, but it just does not work. i wasn't able to flash system partition...) and found no solution. i posted a bug report to OnePlus and they looked at it, but i don't expect that the find the problem. it basically was a problem that ThemeCompat was not used. Saw this in the logs. Very strange, because there is no way how this can happen.

But anyway today i did a factory reset and then it worked again and have now upgraded to 11.0.6.9 - i really hope this does not happen again after an upgrade.

BTW: You and me seem to be the only one with that problem, i literally found no one else with that type of problem.

I just updated to newest 11.0.6.8.KB05AA on US variant using the normal method and firmwares below...

In short
flash stock boot img
get new update
boot (not flash) using the patched boot img below
Wait for it to boot...it takes forever and almost seems like it is in a boot loop at points
Once it boots, head to magisk and direct install
Reboot and enjoy

Here is the 11.0.6.8 patched version of boot.img with Magisk 21201.
With the stock boot.img
I will try to keep it updated as the updates goes.

Edit: It's from KB2003. I dunno if it works with other variants.

Thanks for the great guide. Finally pulled the trigger and my 8t is rooted. Is it ok to switch back to magisk beta channel after the next full OTA flash, or should I stay on the canary channel? Again, thanks.

After the latest OTA Update 11.0.6.9.KB05BA and reboot over Magisk inactive Slot i cannot go into "Settings".
If I go to "Settings" the Screen with the Option-Settings like WLAN etc is on screen. By selecting an Option it jumps Back to HomeScreen.

Can anyone help or have a solution to fix this? All other things in the apps work fine.
A Cache Wipe did not help.

Update: I dont know how and why, but now everything works fine. I reboot by pressing Volume up + down + Power Buttons... in the Boot process it restarts again and booting.
After the boot process and unlocking the start screen, a message appears that the update is now complete. After that, the settings could be called up again as usual.

Maybe this helps one or the other with the same problem.

Hey, for the Indian Variant a new patch needs to be made and added to the list.
The newest Update for the Indian Variant is 11.0.6.8 KB05DA, I've just updated my phone and so trying to patch with the current patch up there fails and causes my phone to not function correctly or brick (which I've been able to reverse with Msm Tools). If someone could make a newest patch and upload that'd be awesome. I could do it but I'm not super confident and I don't wanna mess up and brick a bunch of people's phones.

You can patch the boot file from the ROM package. Use the payload extractor and get the boot.img for the 6.8 DA rom and then proceed to root as usual as explained in the OP. I had already done mine, went back to locked BL as my widevine was downgrading to L3 when unlocking BL.

CAUTION!
I do not know if are multiple OTA files for those still stuck on a previous versions before 11.0.5.6.KB05AA. I recommend just updating it through the system update or download the full rom. I updated through system update.

Previously a few people have had bootloop issues and incomplete updates.

I wonder if all these update issues are because their phones aren't running the correct software. KB2000 is supposed to run hydrogen, KB2001 is supposed to run DA rom, KB2003 is supposed to run BA rom, and cyberpunk is supposed to run cyberpunk rom. I don't know where you all got your phones, but if you're using the AA rom and don't have a KB2005 device, then whoever sold you the phone hacked the wrong rom into it and who knows what each update will do.

The only people I know that have complained about bootloop issues after updating are using the wrong rom on the wrong phone.

I can't help you if your phone doesn't update properly.

Non-PC Method

See Warning above.

Step 1: You must unroot first. You don't have to completely remove Magisk, just restore images. Open Magisk, click uninstall magisk, and only click restore images. DO NOT REBOOT!

Step 2: Install OTA update. DO NOT REBOOT!

Step 3: Open Magisk and install to inactive slot. Reboot. Boot up took about 30 seconds.

Maybe that'd explained why I got Qualcomm crash dump mode after update and reboot to 11.0.6.8. I do it as usual: Magisk restore image, download and install 11.0.6.8 from system own update, Magisk install to inactive slot and press reboot in Magisk. End up in crash dump mode. Boot into bootloader and change to slot b but stuck in recovery with reason failed signature verification or keys. Tried flash back stock b boot image that I have made backup but still same error. Shouldn't it when update only the updated slot will be change? This looked like the update change both slots signature.

Got it to boot back by doing system reset in recovery, I choose the option that didn't wipe users data yet it still wipe clean the storage along with all my files. sml...

Yea. OP really messed that up. You might want to use the BA MSM tool and restore the correct rom onto your phone. I think there was another member who received a KB2000 with the wrong rom as well.

Not sure. The upgrading process should be the same, but you'll need to get your hands on the tmo rom.
