Please excuse me, I'm new to this whole rooting thing and am greatly confused and in desperate need of help.

I made it through step 1 perfectly fine, Bootloader is unlocked and everything, but I'm snagged in a bit of a "catch 22" moment on step 2 where it states that the phone must be rooted to achieve s-off, but the phone isn't successfully rooted without achieving s-off so it is impossible to achieve either by this logic...

I have been doing hours of searching and studying but everyting I find leads to this paradox of a problem and some clarity would greatly be appreciated.
actually if you want you can leave step 2 and continue with step 3(flashing recovery)
then root
also know that even with S-ON you can flash any custom roms

I tried the perm root option in the All-in-One-Kit, but the cmd prompt says "device not found". Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hello , a strange thing happened to me when trying to follow this guide. After failing many times with the wire trick I decided to undo the changes. My phone was wiped, but I didn't care as I had all the important stuff backed up.

The problem is , that any app that is not a part of the stock ROM can't get online via mobile internet.
Facebook, integrated browser, play store works ok, but for example if I install firefox or IMO messenger, it won't connect.

Any ideas what might be the cause of this?
Thank you.

Help and thanks in advance

I followed the forum and youtube video on how to S-Off, Flash, and perm root my device. As far as I can tell it should be rooted but it's not. Here is what I have on my HBOOT screen

Juopunutbear
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1111
RADIO-11.23.35....
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226...
eMMC-boot

If I go into recovery I have the Clockwork screen. I still have the 'su.zip' file in there. I doubled checked and unzipped again and it gives me the two okay's. I reboot and I have the superuser icon. But if I check to see if I'm rooted the root check tells me no. I figured I'd check out some forums and Some said to try the SuperSU. I downloaded that and it tells me that my su binary needs to be updated. If I try that it fails. I have internet, I have mobile. I would start the process over but from the specs I showed you, where would I? Also I did start over from the clockwork part today just to see if maybe I thought I received the 2 okays but didn't, but yea I did. Any help will be appreciated. uhhh...I mean will be extra appreciated, you forum on how to root did get me this far. Sorry forgot to mention I have a HTC Sensation 4g Tmobile

Thanx

you should be fine[/QUOTE]
THAT WORKED!!!!! Not sure why I had to yell that out, but you don't know how frustrating it is looking for that simple answer you gave me. It's rooted, and confirmed with Root Checker. Now to look for a custom rom...leaning toward Viper...any fav or suggestion? Once again..thanx for the help

Hi, I have a some question. :) I unlock 1.27 Hboot and root with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553
I still have S-ON, If I do S-OFF will it be enough to flash any other room? Or I have to do something else?
even with S-ON you can flash roms
but use 4ext recovery for flashing
and before flashing always enable smartflash from 4ext

and do a nandroid backup just in case

do you have sdk tools installed?(adb, fastboot)
also in bootloader make sure that it says fastboot usb when you are connecting the device

I'm having the same issue as Boixos. I've verified that the SDK tools are installed and also ensured that I am on the FASTBOOT USB screen.

In my case I started going through the guide and got up to the point where the S-OFF procedures were not working for me because I was on a Win XP 32 bit machine (which is not technically supported). I switched to a Win 7 machine and my S-Off procedure worked perfectly.

Since I'm stuck at the "error: device not found" issue, I tried going back to the Windows XP machine...but both machines give the same error when I run the AMAZING toolkit.

First post BTW, hope I've followed all the forum guidelines! :D

Thanks rzr86. I tried those drivers but they don't seem to make any difference.
I've definitely got USB debugging on and am using USB 2.0 ports.
I believe I'm on the correct fastboot usb screen because if I unplug the USB cable, it actually shows FASTBOOT (higlighted in red) and when I plug the cable back in, it changes to FASTBOOT USB (highlighted in red).

Unfortunately the issue persists.

I took it a step further and tried this on yet another Windows 7 machine. I verified that I had the Android SDK installed ...and the drivers (under device Manager --> Android USB Devices --> My HTC) and it pointed to the drivers I pulled down from the link you sent me. Same issue on this machine as well.
So now I've tried it on 3 machines and all of them give the same error.

One other observation. If I unplug the phone from USB and then click on "Flash Recovery", I still get the device not found command prompt window....but then the next command prompt window shows < waiting for device >. This tells me that the tool does seem to detect the phone.
Normally if the USB cable is connected, it appears to flash the phone (on the command prompt) and shows these messages:
sending 'recovery' (6348 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.591s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 9.239s]
finished. total time: 10.833s

However nothing actually happens on the phone.

Any advice would be appreciated!
