Noob question

Where do you find if its ND8 or NDC...I've looked and cannot find it.

As of now I know towelroot (device not supported) and Kingo (puts phone in download mode) will not work to root my phone.

You can download "Phone Info" from Playstore -- in Firmware, check the last three characters in "baseband" and "firmware" -- Should be good to go . . .

Hope this helps . . .

cool thanks.
So if my GS3 is one of these models then it can be rooted?
Should be able to follow the OP in first posts on this thread -- identify what Android version (4.4.2 or ? and Build (ND8, NDC, etc) and follow directions EXACTLY --

Just did this a month or so ago with my wife's Sprint S3 with the NJ2 Build - can't remember what Android version, but believe it was 4.4.2

It is step by step.....just make shure you know which version of the S3 you have and which modem....like NF4 or NJ2/3
So start by checking in your settings - about device. OR Download "Phone info" From The Play Store. Let us know details and we'll be happy to walk you through.
What you need to look for is 1) Model Number 2) Android Version 3)Build Number (the last three characters are what 6th_Hokage is referring to as NF4 or NJ/3, etc -- AND just to be sure, I like to get the Phone Info 1) Device Type and Product Name and 2) Bootloader Version

Match up all of this info and choose the method in the OP (First Posts of this Thread) that matches EXACTLY what you've got . . .

Hope this helps . . .

Well, nothing matches up with the OP.

What does it show for Device Name? Also, could you verify the Model Number? Mine shows SPH-L710, which this Thread is for . . .

You're right - it IS for the SPH-L710 and L710T -- the Model No you had before threw me off (that's easy to do -- lol). So, we're barking up the right tree here. Let me see what this OA3 build is -- I'm not familiar with that one, and it's not one listed in the OP.

Looks like OA3 was just released early 2015 -- AFTER these rooting methods were released by 6th_Hokage. Looks like you're in pioneer territory for now. I did a quick search and don't see anything related to rooting your device with this newer build - I'd recommend you don't do anything with the procedures in this thread (so far) until there's some more info about the OA3 build.

BTW - Rooting can be a 5 minute thing -- it's the research, etc that turns into a 2 day exploration :)

6th_Hokage --- H E L P !!!

OA3 is the update after NF4 so what works for NF4 should work with OA3, some have said they went back to NF4 to root their S3 but, everywhere you look it says if you do that Knox will make it a brick....

Aaaaaaand now there is another update aswell, lol. I am wondering if anyone has updated recently and found a root method that works. I would just like to remove some bloatware. I don't need the space. I just find useless apps annoying -_- I have a Samsung galaxy S3 sph-l710t running 4.4.2 baseband version PU0AOF2. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you to all of the devs, testers, and anyone active on these forums.

I'd like to find a reliable "Change Log" for the updates. ANYONE know of something like this? I've not been able to find ANYTHING.

You know, a Change Log with things like:
1 - This "improved" build fixes the ability to root your device so that you don't accidently root it . . .
2 - This build will fix the problem of being able to revert back to an earlier build
3 - This will install the newest and best security possible - KNOX

etc, etc, etc

LOL

Seriously, anyone know of something like this?

Knox was introduced since 4.3
And build specific wise for the s3 seems to be signal updates....and breaking known root apparently
