Root has worked but titanium backup keeps telling me it cant access the backup location, which I have set to /mnt/sdcard/titbackup (created it in TB), any ideas?

Edit: A reinstall of TB fixed it

Worked perfectly!

I had updated my originally unrooted Galaxy Note from the Stock GingerBread ROM DDLB2 to this stock ICS ROM yesterday.

Now I followed this process today and my Note is rooted.

Thanks!

me worked like charm

one question, before i tried i was on cf-root lpy kernel and noticed that LPY rom was slow and buggy, that is when i went back to stock GB rom without root
and then i just flashed offical stock LPY rom with PC odin, and I felt that LPY os really smooth.

So by following this method I am not using cf-root kernel right? or anything related to that kernel

I am just wondering why not everyone uses this method

its always best to be on stock rom and kernel in my opinion, at least u will know everything works

With this method, you can not use AdBlock apps. Can not write to the host file. So it seems that you do not have root access to the etc / host or any other folder.

Thanks anyway for this, hope it will be a simple full root method later

Reboot to recovery

I'm stuck at step 2. How do I reboot to recovery? Does this depend on CWM being previously installed? I need to know more, please?

Thank you,

J

I see a number of people have stated that they received only partial root, I assume that others are receiving full root access. Is there any explanation for this?

How would one gain full root afterward?

Followed instructions provided and rooted like a charm.

Note: on touch cwm, my su-busybox zip which I placed in external sd only appeared under internal sd. Apart from that, it's all good.

I have rooted stock GB ROM with Abyss kernel and I just tried flashing the stock ICS ROM (torrent download) via ODIN v3 1.85, but it failed and prompted an error that says "Can't open the serial port." Am I missing any steps?

Update: Well, interestingly, I changed the USB cable and used another port, and it worked. The first cable was actually Samsung's cable that came with the Note.

This method worked easily after PC Odin of official ICS.

1. Like others have asked, do we now have same kernel as those that flashed the CF Root LPY kernel? Mine reads-

3.0.15- N7000XXLPY-CL474509
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Fri May 4 04:49:06 KST 2012

didn't look to see what it was before root.

2. I still have stock recovery. How do I get CWM recovery?

3. Can I now install ROM Manager or is there something different called CWM Manager? What's the difference?

Thanks

The cable I got with my note was crap from Day 1.
I never used it after that unfortunate discovery.
