Hey

Got unlocked and rooted without a snag. Easiest root in history! I'm bigrushdog and I come from the Evo 4g board. I also port the weekly MIUI releases to the Evo and have put out several roms including a LiquidMetal port. Xoom is definitely the place to be for tab/hc development. I'm gonna take a look at Koush's repos and see what he has going on. This is gonna be a blast!

Anyone has the stock boot.bin image (prior to flashing the rooted one)?
We are going to need this when the OTA hits as the OTA will NOT flash on the rooted system.

You would never want to flash and OTA on a rooted device anyway. The OTA will be dumped, rooted, modded, deodexed, then be ready to be flashed. But we have to get custom recovery up and running and Koush is on the case.

Here is the stock boot.img in case you want to go back (for OTA flashing etc..).

I have not tested this via fastboot yet.

EDIT: i can confirm you can flash the above stock boot image via fastboot just fine, so when the OTA comes you will be able to upgrade.
Thanks Koush for providing the stock boot image.

Can anyone make a video of how to for root. I havent used ADB before and i love the root community. I just want to make sure i do it correctly. I do not need to crack the bootloader, just to have root access.

anyone else have an issue with the market force closing after rooting?
I can't seem to get it to work now...

After it updates itself...it force closes any time I try to open it up.
After rooting, I deleted the two games, BooksTablet.apk, and Talk.apk but that's about it...could that have hosed it?

I had some market issues after root myself, did a hard reset and it has been fine.

By hard reset, you mean a "factory reset"?

I did try that. The market opens initially, says its out of date, updates itself...then force closes: com.google.android.finsky

The only thing I can think of is to try to restore the stock APKs that I nuked...
Can anyone pull off Talk.apk/Talk.odex and BooksTablet.apk/BooksTablet.odex ??

Sadly I wasn't smart enough to back these up first

Give it some time, I know when mine said it was out of date it was still installing apps on to my Xoom and took a bit before it worked.

I'll grab these for you now, give me a min.
