I didn't see your post...I'm willing to do it but I don't have experience with circuits or anything related...I do have a soldering iron... do you mind posting the steps? I can find someone who knows how to do this.

Thanks.
The switches ringed in the picture are are surfaced mounted and need only be soldered on this side, i used a filed down chisel bit to ease access.
You can see if they are loose by pushing the buttons. It only needed soldering on the left of the switch.

Ok thanks for the helpful pic. I took another look and don't see those parts as loose. Tightened the screws and plugged it in the cradle. Its charging and showing 100 percent. Then take it out of cradle to try the power switch again. Still no powering on. Sigh.

Might still be worth touching with a soldering iron though, the pcb in the charging cradle is said to be cold soldered and after re-flowing my cradle it works now.

preloader -"zeroed" ?

Hi all,
I tried to flash back my saved firmware with SP Flash, but clicked on "preloader" without looking if there was a file and length referred.
SP startet flashing for 2 secs and aborted with error.
The watch didn't come up and is not recognised in SP Flash or MTKdroid.
Battery pull and long powerbutton push didn't change anything. The watch is totally dead (no light, no nothing)
If plugged to the computer, the USB port is recognised but as unknown.

My guess is I "zeroed" (length of preloader is 0 byte when I look at SP Flash) the preloader.
Is there any chance to get the preloader restored or the watch revived ?

Thanks!

After a while i think i got it sorted although I dont see the device in device manager but it does seem to show up under PORTS (COM & LPT).
Something mediatek related

On another note the device appears to be in a bootloop of sorts. I noticed in the device manager that the com port 7 dissapears and reapears continuously. At the same time the windows audio plays the device connected/disconnected sound.

Disconnected

Connected

Im still hoping this bootloop/brick can be sorted. I´m promised dinner if I do =)
Taking out the battery and then plugging the watch into the PC has this same effect for me - you might want to use a fresh battery or charge it up first.

For my watch (or maybe my PC), it couldn't install the drivers properly, so when the device appeared in the device manager window, I right-clicked on the COM port and installed the VCOM drivers, and that did the trick for me. HTH.

After Restore from Backup, Stuck in Logo after Power Up

Hey Guys,

Device: Omate TS 1Gb (RAM) / 8GB 2100Mhz
Country: Australia

Need your help on reviving my Omate TS. Well, what happened was, while in the process of upgrading firmware, I soft bricked my Omate TS. Luckily though, I was able to backup my Omate TS Firmware using the steps @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631953
(Section: Be sure to use MTK Tools to back up you IMEI FIRST!!!). Then, I did the steps at http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...up-MTK6592-MTK6589-MTK6577-and-all-MTK-Phones (Until Step D), until !Files_to_FlashTool was available.

So, I followed the steps to restore my Omate TS, formatted ROM and downloaded the !Files_to_FlashTool successfully! (I did see the OK! many times).

But, unfortunately whenever I power ON my Omate TS, it would just be stuck at the Omate Logo and do not progress from that.

Really frustrating guys, I just want to at least make use of this Omate TS, after waiting for it for over 9 months.

Seriously, it would help if there is a central help/guide on how to upgrade, backup, restore ROMs/Firmware. There's also a lot of F/W uploaded on the forum, people could easily mistakenly load those F/W to their Omate TS and unknowingly get themselves into trouble and stress of resurrecting Omate TS. But seriously, this device really sucks, I got the MK808 (cheapo Android TV stick) and own other Android devices, and I don't have trouble flashing and re-flashing ROMs. I can't understand what's so special with this device.

Highly appreciate your help guys! Looking forward to it.... :)

You see the bootlogo probably because after restoring the software the cache and userdata partitions are not formatted. It doesn't restore those i noticed. Go into recovery by using the mtkdroid's reboot button or use adb and type: adb reboot recovery when you see the omate logo and then choose Factory reset.

Edit: you didn't make the backup after the faulty update did you?

Do you know what firmware yours came with? If it is the 20140328 i can provide it for you, but since you did not backup anything you will lose the IMEI number that fits your device. How did you brick it? Maybe if you just flash a boot and recovery you can still backup you IMEI and NVRAM but i don't think so.

OTA availible?

I flashed the backup provided in the OP (I also backed up my watch, but restoring it always stops with an error). The ROM version is a little bit old... I tried looking for updates but FOTA always tells me I am on the latest version - which I am not because a few days ago OUI 2.1 was released and I am on some quite old version (from februrary it think). What can I do to get the latest version? (1/8 2100 Version)

Hi, I would like very much to go back to stock and because I'm a a moron I'm too faithful, I have no backup.

So, I'm looking for "out of the box" backup of latest 1/8/2100 truesmart. I have found Omate_1-8_2100_TrueSmart_20140328 on this very forum, but It does not seem to be working on my new device.

You can post the url here so everyone can have access, or you can PM me if you have no upload solution.

P.S.: If not for me, do it for you: You have to backup; the sooner the better.

Thank you all.

Bricked Truesmart - 1900 1/8GB

Hi. I need help! I was trying to restore my Truesmart to the original firmware that came on it. I had a full backup that I performed with MtkDroidTools 2.5.2. I backed it up and then clicked "To prepare blocks for Flash Tool" when I backed it up so I thought I had everything I needed.

I just tried to restore that version by selecting the scatter file in the "!Files_to_FlashTool" directory. I used Flash Tool 5.1352.01 and loaded the drivers as Loki shows in his Youtube video ("SP Tools Full Firmware Flashing Guide") and started FlashTools.

I went to the "Download" tab, selected the scatter file from my backup and changed the option to "Firmware Upgrade" (this is probably what messed me up). It started something and very quickly gave me an error that files were missing. I looked and sure enough, none of my backups have cache or usrdata (I don't know why).

However, I am now stuck. My watch won't power on. I tried pulling the battery and flashing but when I connect it to my computer, it tries to install a new driver - "Alcatel Single RNDIS Interface #3", so I can't get flash tool to do anything with it. It also goes in a loop where it connects and then disconnects from the USB (get the connect/disconnect noise about every 45 seconds).

Any help?

Thanks!

Uninstall your preloader drivers, delete the Alcatel drivers using usbdeview or Windows device manager.

Reinstall the drivers, pull your battery, and flash only the preloader using your scatter file.

Then, flash your full firmware image.

Kuronosan, thanks for the quick response. I am a total noob at this and don't usually use Windows. How do I uninstall the preloader drivers? And I can remove the Alcatel drivers when the watch is connected using device manager. Is that enough?

EDIT: I turned off my wifi so the computer couldn't connect to windows update and it loaded the MediaTek USB VCOM driver. I had already hit the download button using my scatter file and only the PRELOADER selected. I had it set to "Download Only". At the bottom, it has a red bar saying "Download DA 100%" but nothing indicating if it is finished or if I need to wait for anything telling me it is complete. Can I disconnect now or do I need to leave it until something says it is complete?

Thanks!

Usbdeview for the preloader. Device manager is good enough for Alcatel drivers.
Ok. Now i am lost. After I got the preloader downloaded (my edit from my last post), nothing happened. So, I disconnected it and tried downloading all of the files. Again, got the red bar saying "Download DA 100%" and nothing more. So, I tried doing a firmware upgrade again and I get the same thing - "Download DA 100%" and then nothing. No yellow progress bar, no errors, nothing. What am I doing wrong? Do I not have the correct drivers still? Every time I connect it now, it uses the "MediaTek USB VCOM" and creates a new COM with incrementing numbers.

I'm sorry I am so clueless! I thought I had researched this and knew what I was supposed to do, but apparently I missed something.

Don't do updates. Only do download. Uninstall the drivers again, plug it into a different USB port.

The way you did it was correct. As I said, you need to pull the battery first.

And don't apologize. It's okay to ask questions.

Well, I think I know a little more but still don't know how to get it working. I can't get it to load the MediaTek Vcom driver unless my wifi is turned off. Otherwise, it still loads the Alcatel driver. However, when it loads the MediaTek driver and does the download, it then tries to load another driver (usb device) and then, immediately, the watch disconnects, so the FlashTool never finished because it has disconnected. I am going to try it on another computer and see if i can get it going with a fresh install of everything.

---------- Post added at 03:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 AM ----------

So, no joy. It looks like everything starts correctly but once it downloads the file, I think it tries to re-connect the watch as a USB device (the MediaTek VCOM disappears and an unknown USB device appears) but it can't find a driver for it, so it disconnects. Any ideas?

I have removed every driver that I think could be causing the issue using usbdeview and removed the Alcatel drivers from Device manager. I try to re-install the drivers using DPInst64.exe but it appears they are still installed, even though I thought I had removed them.

EDIT: It isn't an unknown USB device that shows up, just a totally "Unidentified Device", it doesn't even know it is USB.
