I know it's asking a lot, but could someone make provide full step by step instructions for backing up and unlocking the bootloader on the A2017G B03? All the info is out there, probably, but I'm a bit confused still and don't want to brick anything :)

Guesses on whether or not this will work with the B27 update? I'm still B20 stock, locked and unrooted. I'm open to trying anything, but in case it's a one-shot deal, let me know what you want me to do.

1.) Unlock via the OP and then update to B27
2.) Update to B27, then try to unlock via the OP
3.) Other?

If you Unlock bootloader in b20 and update to b27 you'll have the bootloader unlock, once you are b27 just boot back to bootloader and flash TWRP.

- unlock in B20
- don't change or mod you System + flash stock Recovery
- update to b27
- reboot to bootloader
- flash twrp
- you'll end up with TWRP + Unlock bootloader

P.S. been confirm by @Unjustified Dev

Thanks! Do we think we can re-lock after B27 update? I could have sworn it was mentioned that folks had had success re-locking, but heck if I can find that thread.

I'm debating remaining locked and unrooted until they release Nougat, just in case we need...something. Not sure what it would be, though. I'm itching to install AdAway :p

Yeah, you'll be able to relock again,
- flash unmod System + boot
- flash Stock recovery
- boot to bootloader and type " fastboot oem lock " (this will probably do a Full Factory reset)
- you'll be lock and back to Stock.

What constitutes "change or mod system". Installing SuperSU modifies system, right?

Could you write that out please.
I'm stuck ... I think i need to flash stock.
Android keeps asking for a password. Not the twrp cancel one.
But the one to boot android.

Did you wipe data?

Yes i wiped data. i followed the first post * tap DALVIK - CACHE - DATA - INTERNAL STORAGE and leave everything else UNCHECK

I locked the oem bootloader and the phone boots again.

So i started al over again
After flashing the zip in the first post ... twrp showed me that the firmware partition could not be flashed.
Booted and same problem. Relocked the oem bootloader and the phone boots again.

Dont think i'm doing something wrong. Followed the first post to the letter.

I think this sounds reasonable.
If one reads this thread and has an G model one could easily mistake info for "U" with the "G" and brick the device (or vice versa). Anyone who successfully unlocked the G should write up a short guide in a separate thread.

For those who did this and want to update to B27:

@lokissmile posted a twrp backup and said we can just restore to that, but then I saw he said later that method misses some firmware changes. Can we just restore stock system.img and stock recovery.img, then take the ota, then reflash twrp? Or do we also need to reflash stock boot.img?

Posting this here because those of us who have done this method are in a slightly different situation than those who took ZTE's official bootloader unlock.

Thanks for the help!

You also need stock boot.img and recovery.
