The code or license you get some sunshine is only for the phone you are unlocking. You cannot share it.
Okay ?

But also will the steps on the first page work? If I follow that without using sunshine, is it going to work for me. Sorry for bothering you.

You have to unlock your bootloader to do anything. Sunshine is the only way to unlock it. You have to have a unlocked bootloader to flash twrp recovery.

First post here. I have SU4TL-49 and 23.21.49.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US.vzw. Everytime I try to use sunshine, it does the temp root successfully but when it tries unlocking, it says "Sunshine only supports the Droid Turbo on the SU4TL-44 and SU4TL-49 firmwares. Your device is currently on an incompatbile firmware". This obviously doesn't make sense since I got SU4TL-49. So now I am stuck trying to figure out what to do. I made sure to download the latest sunshine version too but it still didn't work.

I should mention I tried the Firmware change method in the OP before installing sunshine. The flashing goes OK but when the phone boots up, the Firmware is still SU4TL-49. I have no idea what is going wrong here and no clue how to fix it.

I already replied to a similar question of yours in another thread. I do not know why initially Sunshine didn't work for you on SUTL-49... But your problem right now (probably) is you tried to downgrade "49" to "44". The OP was written (January 2016) before "49" came out (May 2016) and @TheSt33v revised it to also include "49" -- specifically saying if you have SUTL-44 or SUTL-49, do NOT do anything in Section 0. You tried to do something in Section 0.

When you try to flash a lower version of firmware of the Moto Quark, the bootloader will NOT downgrade. It still remains the higher version.

TheSt33v said:
Section 0: Installing Firmware Version SU4TL-44

1. Go to Settings -> About Phone

2. Look at your Build Number. Is it SU4TL-44 or SU4TL-49? Look at your System Version. Is it 23.21.44.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US vzw or 23.21.49.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US vzw ?
If the answer to all of these questions is yes, skip to section 1. Do not perform any other steps in section 0.

If the answer is no, keep reading.

3. Is your Build Number higher than SU4TL-49? If so, you are probably out of luck. This guide probably will not work for you. In the future, please remember that the cardinal rule of unlocking anything is never, ever take the OTA unless someone knowledgeable tells you to.
@TheSt33v is very open to suggestions and he's been very helpful for all Quark users, not just the Droid Turbo XT1254. He added the sentence about not doing anything in Section 0 because too many people were doing what you did, trying to downgrade to SUTL-44.

Do not take this next part wrong.... But, would a little more explanation have helped you in this case? Perhaps another sentence saying specifically "DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE SUTL-49 TO SUTL-44"?" I am not yelling at you, I am actually asking if an all-cap sentence like that would have helped you? Because for me, sometimes I need stuff like that in my face when I am reading quickly. ;)

You are on mixed firmware right now. Your bootloader did not downgrade but other parts are probably SUTL-44. You will need to re-flash ALL of SUTL-49. If Sunshine still doesn't work then, we can ask the Sunshine team for help.

Well, ****. The blame lies squarely on me for me reading the OP properly. I honestly thought OP was asking to skip section 0 if you are on 44 but not if you're 49 and here's how you got to 44.

I am going to try to flash a clean SU4TL-49 using RSD lite and report back.

edit: Happy to report that worked, once again thanks.

That wording has confused people in the past. My only reason for keeping SU4TL-44 instead of -49 is that the full firmware package for -44 comes with a handy batch file that performs all of the necessary flash operations automatically, and -49 does not. However, since you're the second person to get tripped up by this, I'm going to write my own batch file when I get home to include with the SU4TL-49 package and then update the guide to just use SU4TL-49. That way, maybe we can eliminate some confusion.

I'm on my third XT1254 now. Well i will be soon.

Buying this one from a friend. I forgot i had to purchase Sunshine every time i move devices :(

Don't even remember doing it the second time around. Just know the screen broke and Moto sent me a new one. I must have sunshined that bad boy somewhere in there.

I know, I know, don't take the OTA update, but....too late for that now. Just got interested in rooting my Turbo mostly because my battery is now two years old and doesn't hold like it used to (and would like to adblock). Is it too late? No way to do it now? My build says MCG24.251-5. I'm guessing I screwed the pooch by upgrading to Marshmallow but figured I would check...

Too late. Unless Sunshine pulls a rabbit out of the hat.

But yeah, too late. We told people to unlock bootloader first... You could still install the OTA AFTER the bootloader was unlocked. Sorry.

I actually thought I had unlocked it when I first got it because supposedly it was going to be unable to unlock after the first update or something along those lines... I'll see if I can figure out if it's still unlocked
