I've just bought a L29 C432 and this method does not work.
Have tried with USB-memory and a USB-disk.
The file structure looks like this:
dload
--update_sd.zip
CLT-L29_hw_eu
--update_sd_CLT-L29_hw_eu.zip
What software version are you on? It has to be 161 otherwise you can't upgrade from anything below it.

Is there anyway to do this update without a USB otg cable? Can't find one in a shop here and it will take a few days to get one delivered if I buy online. My bootloader is locked.

I try connect my pendrive SanDisc 32gb micro usb through usb C extention and is not working.
I try normal micro usb cable and usb c connector and is connecting perfectly my phone to the computer.
Any idea why my pendrive is not connecting ? I format him exFat but not showng up on my phone...

Just installed and working perfect! enable OEM unlock and USB debbuging in developers options, and also use a OTG compatible cable or device,
I did the same.
But i always get same error :(

Meanwhile, whenever I click "Developer options", i see USB debugging is passive.
i make it active.
i exit menu.
then i check again, it is again passive..

Another point for everyone, after just installed Pie i realize some lag in the phone, so i repeat the process again, and boot perfect, more fast everything, i dont know why, but its works

Just flashed successfully few minutes ago!
Thanks thanks thanks!
Just my 2 cents, first try with a sand disk cruzer micro 8gb usb pen failed (2 times), then I tried with another usb pen (unknown brand) an it worked well!
Coming from B161 emui 8 on my P20 pro dual sim no brand C432 ;)

See if you can get an update to 161 and then repeat the dload process. I guarantee you it will work.

Updated to 161, still doesn't work.
Using an older Sandisk Cruzer 16gb drive.
Unfortunately I didn't have any USB-C OTG adapter, instead I'm using a micro-USB OTG adapter with a micro-USB to USB-C adapter.
The phone finds the files and USB drive.
Could this be the issue?

Well, think where on to something here, seems like the Sandisk Cruzer is not compatible :D

I have a Sandisk cruzer usb and it worked perfectly. I had a USB C OTG cable and not one with a micro USB adapter so this could be causing a problem with the installation

Guess I'll have to wait for the OTA then, or buy a USB-C OTG adapter :)
Thanks for the help!

WARNING: Your data will be erased...

    Use these two links:

    CLT-L09C432

    https://androidhost.ru/1iPC

    CLT-L29C432

    https://androidhost.ru/1iPD

    1. Download the service firmware from the links above for your respective model and extract the "dload" folder from it. It will contain a file called update_sd.zip and two folders - CLT-L09_hw_eu and CLT-L29_hw_eu, each with a respective secondary update package, leave these in the folders and delete whichever folder isn't relevant to your device e.g keep the L09 folder if you have the L09 folder and vice versa.

    2. Drag the dload folder to an exFat formatted USB drive and have an OTG cable handy as this phone hasn't got MicroSD support.

    3. Plug the OTG cable with the drive in the phone and now go to the phone dialer and dial *#*#2846579#*#* and go to Software Update and then select SD upgrade.

    4. EMUI 9 will start installing and your data will be erased after. Note: OEM unlock will be blocked, this is a known bug in EMUI 9 for now and should be fixed in a later update.

    5. Enjoy EMUI 9!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! Android 9.0.0.195 C432 is available in FF and now when check, it says 'approved' :D

    Got an OTG Cabel, got now 2 downloaded FF-Files (Update.zip & update_full_CLT-L09_hw_eu.zip).

Can I such easily Update from 9.0.0163 to 9.0.0.195 like you discribed for upgrading from 8 -> 9?!

nope.. the 9.0.0163(C432E5R1P9) from FF (and this one - first post) is still a developer version (says HiSuite) - update not possible
i try this.. (rename files to update_sd_CLT-L29_hw_eu etc..) but the flash process will stop.. this is wrong version..
FF also get an error ... this sucks
(C432E5R1P9patch01) is the real ota version

A further note for you guys:

    1. This guide does not work for C782 devices or other country branded devices. It will work if you rebranded to C432.

    2. These files are official, just been hosted on a third party mirror and Androidhost.ru is well known for uploading all service firmwares for Huawei and other smartphones.

    3. If you got an error, either there is a problem with how you set the files up on the USB. It should look like this:

    dload
    ------- update_sd.zip
    CLT-L09 or L29_hw_eu
    ------- update_sd_CLT-L09_hw_eu.zip

    Happy flashing guys!

4d focus point now working again, better image quality in night mode e normal mode, aperture mode and 3x zoom not freezing the camera app, new gesture mode, less lag in transitions...
    Big improvement for me

Inviato dal mio CLT-L29 utilizzando Tapatalk

now you can use zoom lens in night mode as well, in case you havent notice yet,

thats pretty useful combined with mini tripod :)

    Hi.
This method works on phones with a locked bootloader?

Yep it works with locked bootloaders. Simple and easy to install.
