This appears to be a solution for some people and for other it doesnt seem to work. Not really sure why but it works on my Evo 3D and it works on various others in this thread. This IS NOT a fix all for everyone. All I can tell you is to try it and see.

Many thanks to slayer69 for this. Basically just a copy/paste of his thread with some other changes for the low volume on the EVO 3D. I take no responsibility for your actions if you brick it or blow your speaker!!!!

Here is the new process for INCREASING the volume on your EVO 3D. Enjoy!!! (NO ROOT REQUIRED)

1. Install HTC Sync if you haven't already.
2. Use the CDMA Method posted Here to get your MSL. Thanks techwerkz - Or Call Sprint.
3. Download QPST: http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/flash/mobile_phones/companies/qualcomm/models/qpst/12051.html
4. Install QPST software
5. Put phone into Diag mode: dial ##diag#
6. Start QPST service programming. If your phone is in diag mode you will see it listed here.
7. Click Read from phone
8. Enter your SPC number (the one obtained from step number 2)
9. Click the Sounds tab.
10. Change each level to whatever you want it to be. Level 4 is the loudest (try not to blow your speaker, thnx!).
11. Write to phone. (You may see some Read Only Errors. This is normal)
12. Reboot phone and you will hear the difference.

To find the COM port your HTC Modem is using:
Go into the control panel and then device manager. Look for the HTC Modem. Right click on the modem and select properties. Select the "Advanced Tab" then "Advanced Port Settings" Button. Com port will be listed there. (Windows 7 Instructions)

If you have Windows 7 x64 and are having issues with the HTC Modem drivers follow these Instructions.

If you're having problems with the above process see, slayer69's thread here

yes, see slayer's thread for proof. or you just have a bad install. uninstall, remove all registry entries referring to qpst, reinstall and retry.

everytime i try to connect to QPST, i get a "online connection failure"

has any1 else has this error?

Is it after you successfully connected to QPST or when you open QPST programming, then it crashes. If you get online connection failure, try to update profile and it should connect online again. I don't know whether I answer your question.

How well does this really work?

I know messing around with qpst can really hose your stuff up if you make the wrong changes so I never played around in there.

i changed mine to Level 3 and it's noticeably louder overall. yea, you can hose your stuff up but as soon as you read the phone initially, make a backup in qpst and all can be restored if you do fubar it!

HERE is a little help for installing all the sync drivers on win7x64.

SIDE: If your phone isn't showing up in QPST with the drivers installed, open up QPST Configuration and add COM ports (COM3, COM4, COM5, etc) till you find it.

QPST link is a four oh four. :/

EDIT: OP.....change the URL in the op...it didn't copy the whole URL when you copied from my post.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I looked up HTC sync (I'm supposed to download/install the HTC Flyer sync?), run it, it installs all drviers, etc. Then, I open diag (via ##diag# in dialer), install diag drivers, then downloaded/installed QPST drivers. Opened up Service Programming, nothing. I did this exact same procedure yesterday for the 3G speed boost, now it's not working on the same exact usb port, on the same exact computer, using the same exact phone! Also, my device manager identifies my phone as "My HTC", then under "Ports", it shows "HTC Diagnostic Interface (COM7)", but whenever I open up Service Programming, it doesn't display any phone. My phone isn't being identified under Modem in Device Manager anymore. Anyone know why? The only difference is now I have htc sync installed.

Just open qpst configuration and make sure you add com 7, should get you going.
