Should I really be able to underclock the CPU as described in the first post of this thread? I've tried underclocking with both No Frills and SetCPU and either way stats still report the CPU running at 800MHz (or 1000MHz with the overclockable kernel) 15-30% of the time. I've tried this with multiple kernels and it never seems to work even though the setting is sticking in the program and apparently being set at boot.
The CPU runs at 300MHz most of the time anyway and I'm happy with the battery life, but I'm just a little curious about this.
I only recently got my Nook Touch and battery life wasn't great after initially rooting it, but I made the egl.cfg change mentioned in this thread and removed *ALL* of the stock APKs aside from Browser, globalsearch, PackageInstaller, ReaderRMSDK, and Settings/SettingProvider. I use ReLaunch instead of B&N Home/Library and I replaced the LatinIME keyboard with multiling. I get phenomenal battery life now. About 1% per 24 hours when sleeping and 1% per hour when reading PDFs in ezPDF.
That's great, but if I could squeeze out a tiny bit more by underclocking, I'd like to.
