hi,

I installed firmaware b179 via the last method Firmware Finder from b152. It worked and installed. But when I turned it back on it was still on B152. And now the "System Update" option in the Settings has disappeared. Anyone know why? what have I done to my phone?

I have tried resetting but still the same.

Any help? thanks

Knuckle Gestures

Is anyone having troubles or has had troubles with motion controls after rebranding, Knuckle gestures are not working since rebranding from VTR09 to VTR 29C432B179. Draw gesture, Smart screenshot and split screen not working. Motions are working. Any help would be appreciated. I have given it a good rap and pressed very firmly so I know it isn't applying more pressure.

Thanks

After many tries with the script and guide, finally managed to rebranded my VTR-AL00 to VTR-L29, bought the phone in China and wanted to rebrand it to the European version. The china version AL00 is slightly different from the European version in that it has emmc flash memory for its OEM info. A few steps of the script needed to be changed in order for the script to work.

1. Change the TWRP from twrp-3.1.0-0-vtr to twrp-3.1.1-0-vtr, you can download it from https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/development/testers-twrp-t3585256
2. Need to edit the HWOTA script and change these lines to change the flash addresses

Line 288 , change /dev/block/sdd5 to /dev/block/mmcblk0p9
Line 318 , change /dev/block/sdd33 to /dev/block/mmcblk0p37
Line 319 , change /dev/block/sdd30 to /dev/block/mmcblk0p34

After that, follow the original instructions and everything should work. This is only to rebrand the chinese VTR-AL00 version as chinese versions of P10/P10+ has a special emmc flash memory, other versions don't need to make this change, I haven't tested it on the P10+ as I don't have a P10+ but it should be working for it too.

1. Depending on your variant (You can check with the app firmwarefinder and imei, if the update is approved) use:
HWOTA_P10_B179 (MD5-Hash: 7D133B7484E7B4AABA84BA1284D148EC )
or
HWOTA_P10_B180 (MD5-Hash: 7E11EE56E83AB98DA4DE03273A6A7633 )
When i install the App and check the firmware with IMEI it tells me, my version is B161 (which is the reason for all this "debrad-thing" i am doing here).
So do i have to use B179 or B180 now, how should i know?

-EDIT-
meanwhile i found another guy asking the same and someone told him to use 179. So i did ...
running the script it tells me on some point
System update should start automatically.
But the phone tells me
Software install failed
so i'm stuck here ...

-EDIT-
done full restore. Phone runs again.
Switched to next step. Trying
5. In TWRP flash "update.zip" and don´t reboot!!!
Ends up with
unknown command [errno]
Process update ended with error: 9

Worked for me but not right away, had to try 4-5 times until I found the right combination of different options in the script.

No, you do receive OTA updates. For me it took a long time the first time. If you are impatient the Firmware Finder app is your friend.
How long did you wait for first OTA update? I have rebranded my phone 14 days ago (my current soft is C432B180)... Thanks for answer! ;)

I have searched this topic but I dont undestand one thing. Today at last VTR-L29C432 Oreo showed up on FF. It is not approved for My device but I own VTR-L29C432, no rebrand, original device. Is it possible to use HWOTA to update manualy to it?

I updated an previously Vodafone branded device that has been debranded to L29C432 yesterday and it works flawlessly. You just have to close the bootloader manually afterwards and switch off the OEM-Unlock in Developeroptions afterwards.

Hi, how did You manage to install Oreo for VTR-L29C432 via FF when there is no Full OTA-MF-PV file just FullOTA-MF and two OTA-MF?

Read more excatly, he asked me if you can do it with hwota? And i did it via hwota, of course the package isn´t signed yet, if you manually try ro flash it via ff.

So it is manageable to upgrade to Oreo via HWOTA using just these files currently available from the FF? Sorry, I didn't know that, I'm sort of a new to HUAWEI since my previous phone was SAMSUNG. Thanks for the clarification, I will try to upgrade as You did.

Would updating to Oreo with hwota not collide with new partition layout for Oreo OS?

I have rebranded to c432 and I'm on latest version of nougat (185). Firmware finder says my device is not approved yet via IMEI.

I think I need to wait a while to update. :(

Installed an Oreo with HWOTA and after bricking my device and spending whole night devoted to fixing the issue I managed to get to play with android 8 and it was worth the time and the nerves. Now what it's left for me to do is relocking the phone with stock recovery installation, I guess I will succeed in this effort as well all thanks to You guys from XDA.
