GB stock flash

Thanks to droidstyle. I just flashed my Fascinate to stock GB and rooted with Odin. Since it was stuck in recovery, I finally took the first flash plunge.
The clear and detailed info droidstyle provided made it a breeze for a first timer.
Thanks from a noob.:D
Also what is powerwash? It is a bloat free GB rom?

I have a question about backups done in cwm. So i followed section 3 in the OP and flashed CM7 successfully. Then I wanted to try the ICS rom actually used in the OP (currently). So I went into cwm and did a backup. then i installed ICS. that was fine too. had quite a few bugs in ICS, so i just made a backup of it, and tried to recover the backup i made of CM7.

thats where things started going wrong. I got stuck when booting up at the Galaxy S part -- never went passed that. before i did the restore, i wiped data/cache/devlic -- is that my restore didn't work? (i had to do section 3 all over again to get CM7 back on the phone which was even easier the 2nd time around)

Thanks for any advice

your restore didnt work because you dint flash the cm7 rom before restoring your cm7 nandroid backup. I have foung that you can restore a ICS nandroid over cm7 but sometimes it will bootloop when you try and restore cm7 nandroid over ICS.

no rooting wont wipe data, neither will flashing a custom rom in cwm recovery unless you actually wipe data. now if you wipe data in cwm yes that will delete everything, as will odining a rom.

Install Zip from SD Card not an option in recovery mode?

I am a NOOB. I have install CVM via ODIN and when I boot phone into recovery mode. Install Zip from SD card is not an option. My options are apply update from SD card. I navigate to the superuser zip file but get "failed to verify whole-file signature" Can you give me any tips?

Well, first you should go back to stock ( I believe its section 4 of this awesome guide) . Then you can flash what you want. Read each step, then read again. Then follow TO THE LETTER. Good luck.

After rooting my phone, if I want to bring it back to stock is there a way to just "un root" it with out losing any info or personal data or do I have to do a complete reinstall of the stock Rom?

Ok I was just curious incase I sell the phone or just don't want it rooted anymore but Wanna keep my files. Thanks

So will I still be able to get OTA updates from verizon if I root? That's the other thing I was wondering about the un rooting question cuz I have heard that you can't get them on rooted phones.

There is about a 99% chance this device will never see another ota update. No you dont lose ota with root, but flashing cwm recovery will.
