I followed the #5 guide for root and everything seemed as tho it worked I can get in recovery make a backup but I can't get any Su permissions. I've tryed a diff version of busybox and downloaded the new Su from the market and updated binaries but no Su access still. Any idea of what I can do? Thanks in advance

do you see the superuser app in your app drawer?
Yes it is, busybox, Su and recovery just no Su permissions are permitted, binaries are updated and I've tried flashing 2.3.6.3 Su zip and still a no go.
It says Su not found in system/bin/su or system/xbin/su

thank you

Thank you.

I put ICS Build 2 on my Fascinate successfully. Aside from occasional lag and Google Calendar not displaying events or allowing me to create new events it's a huge upgrade from stock GB.

Thank you,
Ryan

fixed the link try it again.
this is mad96's friend.... I deleted all of the sf drivers from my computer and re-downloaded all of the files, incl the link to your su zip file. Then I followed your #5 guide to rooting my Fascinate again. Was very easy & seemed to go smoothly, but again, achieve recovery but no root. SU is not skull & crossbones and tibu says no root. I've tried 3 times in case it was just a glitch.

thanks in advance for any suggestions....I have SCOURED the internet & find plenty who have rooted their SF but very little on how to do it with success.

side note: I tried another rooting process (ancient one) before we found yours. It achieved a root but no recovery!! weird

Are you following the directions to the T from step 1 on? This guide works flawlessly, I have used it with success and so have many other... Also you cannot be on eclair to use this guide, its for froyo and gingerbread only.

I believe you. Its blowing my mind. I read and re-read each line twice before doing each action. Obviously I must be missing something...but it isn't the actual root process from the guide...followed it precisely. Could there be leftovers from the last root process I tried? Mad96 is knows about root but I'm a total noob. my first root and getting discouraged...

Here's my phone info:
froyo 2.2.1
kernel version 2.6.32.9
build number sch-1500.ed04
