This didn't work for me. :( I ran control bear and it told me to manually type the adb reboot oem-78 and it closed. I typed the command, the phone restarted and I was never told to do the wire trick. I tried restarting control bear - Device S-OFF already Press Enter to close. So I tried the wire trick anyway when the black htc was showing, then phone restarted and I removed temproot. Now the bootloader says s-off but still has 1.29.0000 instead of 1.27.0000. Control bear still will not run again, saying Device S-OFF already Press Enter to exit.

Phone still works fine but I cant change my radio...which was why I started this process. Device has not been unlocked using HTC Dev. How do i fix?

Thanks!!

Trying to Temp-Root

failed on '/data/local/tmp' - Not a directory
link failed File exists

This is the message I get when I start the process.

Hi,
I am a noob and this is my first post (so be kind to me).
I have been wanting to s-off and root my phone for ages so get rid of the bloatware and increase the speed of it plus install a custom rom but haven't plucked up the courage as I am scared I will brick it :(

Basically I have a UK Vodafone HTC Sensation with the following HBOOT info:

***LOCKED***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000
eMMC-boot
Jan 13 2012, 17:33:34

Software Info:
Android Version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense Version: 3.6
Software Number: 3.32.161.11

I have a few questions which I would like clarifying:
- So I follow the steps for JB Control Bear
- Follow the steps for the one click root tool
- Then how do I install a custom rom?

Thanks in Advance :)

Cheers I have now S-Off successfully with 1000's of attempts lol

For the rooting procedure I am slightly confused:
STEPS:
1.get the new root tool from root-sensation-zip
DONE

2.extract the zip
DONE

3.remove the files adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll , AdbWinUsbApi.dll
(if you dont have any adb/fastboot setup don't delete these and skip step 4 )
*** What do I do here, I have followed your guide completly for s-off? Do i just not delete any file.

4.copy the rest of files to the your adb/fastboot folder
-> if you did SOFF using this guide then copy the reset of files to the temproot-sensation-windows folder which you
have downloaded during SOFF procedure
***when you say "the rest of the files" does that include: adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll , AdbWinUsbApi.dll

5.connect your device normally (from lock screen or home screen) to pc
(NOTE: avoid usb hubs and usb 3.0 ports while connecting ..just connect the device directly to pc/laptop)
*** when i connect my device does it obviously have be turned on (just checking) and then do i connect as htc sync or charge only etc?

6.double click on root.bat file
-> when the message "PRESS ANY KEY WHEN THE PHONE BOOTED PROPERLY/COMPLETELY" pops up in the command window
press any key once the phone is completely booted
-> wait until root is success and once success message "EVERYTHING DONE..ROOT SUCCESS...ONE FINAL REBOOT NOW" pops out
without any errors...you are rooted completely

Thanks again

Do step #3 and #4 (rest of files means the files remaining after step #3)
For #5 both modes will do

Ganesh! Just wanted to say 1000 thanks .. make it 1001. Beer is tasty!

btw is it possible to unroot temporarily. Not a big deal but I have one app that won't run on a rooted phone so It'd be good if there was a workaround for that.
