how to delete android sdk??just delete the folder?
sorry for the delated reply
yes un-install htc sync
and then just delete the sdk folder

then go to the tools folder where you have copied them in your pc

open a command prompt there
(hold shift + right click ->click "open command window here")

connect your device to pc..normally (lock screen/home screen)
then on the command prompt...type this
"adb devices"

this should show your device as a listed device
that means adb is working fine now...now run the script and follow the rest of steps

if its still not working then
click on the "IRC HELP CHANNEL" present in my signature
join it...and I'll be there....to help you further

**Nevermind, had named the cwm file recovery.img when it was already recovery.img, windows hides the .img extension, schoolboy error! Thanks anyway!**

Hi there, I believe I have followed the guide correctly and have s-off with the Juopunut hboot, but I am unable to flash clockwork mod recovery. When trying to flash from fastboot it says error:cannot load 'recovery.img'. I have named the file as recovery.img and it is in the same folder as adb, any ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Gareth

Hi,

Try flashing 5.0.2.0 HERE

Go to settings/power and untick fastboot.
Place it on the root of your sd card, power off, then power on holding volume down and power button together.
Let it flash and reboot.
Then delete it from your sd card.

:)

If the file that malybru posted does not work for some reason, make sure you have the CWM recovery.img in your tools folder of your Android SDK folder. Then try to use fastboot to flash the recovery again.

Edit: I just now saw your edit, disregard this post please.

Hi Guys, I am an HTC virgin so excuse the stupid questions. I have just read the whole threads here.

I am trying to get S-Off on my new XE.

I keep getting the same error when trying to run temp root (see attached).

I am guessing temproot is failing so controlbear wont work

What next steps? I want to try and avoid HTCDev if possible.

hey ..that is weird..you are getting permission denied on /data partition itself
and yes control bear is failing because temp root failed

can you give me more details of your device
post me all the stuff present in boot loader (HBOOT version,SON/SOFF status, radio etc etc )

Please set up android sdk and do a
fastboot gervar all

And give us that output. Seems like you have a new rom version

This is my first post ever on xda..
after a lot reading i came across your method to solve my "problem"

I now have ICS, 1.27 boot(locked) and s-off (rooted while at GB and later updated to ICS with the RUU pyramid zip keeping s-off) and CWM recovery, but my root does not work. Just no root acces, via apps.
Although flashing the su 2.3.6.3 ef signed.zip file went fine, No root acces is caused by the hboot 1.27 found out later.
My goal is just to root it (keeping warranty if possible), no custom rom (yet)

Should i just try your s-off method? (to make sure its really s-off) and then root
with the SU file used in this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625841

anyway thanks for your support.

If the hboot says you're s off then you are. Flash an updated SU package. Root has nothing to do with the hboot
