OK I'll try to explain the process briefly

1. You have extracted the temp root sensation windows folder in some place I guess ..assume the extracted folder name is X
2. Now don't extract the boot.img just copy that file to the folder X
3. Now connect the phone from boot loader to PC ...phone shows FASTBOOT USB if connected properly ...if its showing HBOOT press power button once ..it will take you to FASTBOOT USB mode
4. Now you need to open a command prompt from the X folder
To do that ..go to that folder .. hold shift button and then right click on an empty space of the folder ..you'll get some options ...click on "open command window here "...it opens a command window there

If the above is not working
Try this

Click start button ..and in the search bar present there ..type cmd and press enter ..you'll have a command window

Now you need to navigate to the X folder in the window
To do that type this command

Assuming the X folder is in C:\adb

Type this

cd C:\adb\X

5.once done now you need to type couple of commands in the command window

First this command

fastboot devices

The output of the command lists your device

Then this command

fastboot flash boot boot.img

It flashes the boot file to your device

Then the final command

fastboot reboot

It reboots your device

Glad everything got sorted out.
When phone hard bricks ..you can't even turn on the phone ..any soft brick can be fixed ;)
what causes it ..there are several ways that might happen...more generic one is ..like especially when flashing firmwares.

You can simply root/flash ROMs while being SON ..check for asskickars guide on "flashing ROMs with SON" in sensation general section and follow that to the letter ..you will come out fine.

You always have bit he the ways... you can start fresh with SOFF again...but you need to flash custom recovery and root then should try wire trick ..or if you are scared of wire trick you can do just flash ROMs with SON ..just check the guide I've linked and choose what you want

Hi, I am here to ask you guys a question.
Before getting started, actually, I have to say that I am using Sensation, without S-OFF, but I do know how to perform the trick, so, this is the story of one of my friends.
His previous Sensation has problem on too much battery drainage, so, he recently got exchanged to new one. This new Sensation made in Aug 2012, so we can consider this one has new mainboard.
As you know, because the token from new mainboard is not accepted in HTCDEV, so, he decided to do S-OFF, however, he was stuck from the very beginning. He did wire-trick with his UTP cable, but, his Sensation turned off right after. Thus, he failed to achieve successful S-OFF due to this problem. Well, he attempted many times, but the result was the same. Consequently, he stopped doing S-OFF and thinking of selling the device.

Is there any advice? I keep thinking of the solution, but I can't.

I attached the evidence which he sent to me.

p.s. : I already read the tip, but, it is said that '1.5 seconds is the ideal pause time,' but, as I said, his phone just turns off right after doing the trick.

What I would say is.. Try the wire trick.. It definitely works.. But it has only small margin of success for wire trick... that's why you might need more tries

What all i can say is reduce the pause time and see

0.5 sec tap - - 1.5 sec pause - - 0.5 sec tap

It is really a wonderful device for the price once you got soff and flash custom roms :)

Also look at troubleshoot point #3
It has general tips for wire trick

Also it is turning off right after first tap means.. He is tapping for longer duration or pause time between two taps is too high

He simply needs to try proper tapping.. There are couple of videos for this (the troubleshoot shoot point #3 also has one) ask him to follow that

As I said, right after he taps with the cable, his phone gets rebooted, so, I asked him once again, and he said it happens after 0.03 seconds.

To be added, before he exchanged the phone, he had been using Sensation that was successfully S-OFFed, which means that he has experience.

That's why I think either phone, a sdcard, or, maybe, the program itself is the origin.

EDIT : He told me that he succeeded. I told your solution, so, he just tapped once again even though it reboots, and it is now S-OFFed.

Thank you. :D
