would manually rebooting at this point make any difference?

and thanks :D
Well yeah once, it turns off you need to manually turn it on. Then once it is back on run controlbear again. Also, it would be easier doing the HTC Dev Unlock method, as you will not have the problem with the device switching off.

I'll give this a go few more times and check if i can get this sucker to work! :)
Fingers crossed!

@ ShAaShAy: Exact the same things happened to me yesterday! I was also wondering why my device wasn't rebooting automatically, (so, yes, I had to reboot manually as well).

In principle, you should do the wire trick faster. Do you use proper material for the job?

I did it, it worked the second time. I used the copper inner cable of a coax tv cable.

Ahhww aight :(.. I also tried the wire trick for like 10+ times, but that's because I couldn't find any paperclip whatsoever xD.. Anyway, try holding your left finger on the SIM, just like in the video, and use your right hand to poke the ''needle'' in the left hole

Good luck mate !

Edit: Just to make sure, now that I'm S-off, does that mean that I still have to flash to the latest firmware? (since I currently have version 3.32.114.11) In short, can I flash custom roms now? I don't got anything like Superwipe/ SuperCID.. I know it's probably a noob question :|

This occurs due to taking too long doing the wire trick, you need to be quicker. This happened to me originally, but I then did the wire trick faster, and got to the point where the phone rebooted.
So phone do reboot and get to the control bear screen after correct wire trick? Correct me if I'm wrong

good thing helping each other :D

yeah you can jump to flashing custom roms no need for you to flash firmware ...but for that you need custom recovery first ..check the stickies in general section...you'll find one good guide :D

Well if it reboots your on the right track. Like Ganesh said, if you do it too fast it'll reboot in to android. You'll need to find a middle ground. Not too slow and not too fast.

Hi Ganesh,

Thanks for your response. Do you have any recommendation about installing a custom recovery? I'm asking this because 4EXT Recovery doesn't seem to do the trick since it tells me that I have no busybox, besides that, whenever I ignore that message the application consequently tells me that I haven't flashed my device yet. (Hmpf :|)

I appreciate your concern and effort :D

Edit: ClockworkMod Recovery 4 perhaps?

no 4EXT would be a better choice
first if you got a "juopunutbear" bootloader when you you booted into HBOOT

follow the step 2 (only step 2) from this thread

if you got *Locked* bootloader then first you need to update firmware
to do that follow steps 3,4 and 5 from this thread and then follow the above method for flashing 4EXT again

Thank you sirrr! You are right about the ''Locked'' bootloader, so I went updating my firmware, but I got stuck at the actual point of downloading the firmware (already SuperCID'ed) because the links are dead >< But I'll just wait from here, thank you :D

As you are supercid you can use any 3.32 from the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767&highlight=user-friendly+firmware

Hmm SuperCID, indeed. I do not have any custom flash yet since 4EXT Recovery told me that it has failed:
(..)
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending ''recovery'' (6116 KB) ... OKAY [ 1.482 s ]
writing ''recovery'' ... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.810s

I assume a custom flash is required for updating the firmware right? (Mainly, I think, because I couldn't get to fastboot the firmware package in bootloader)

This error occurs because you do not have a HBOOT which allows you to use those commands. Flash the JuopunutBear bootloader, and run the command again and it should work.

hmm it seems you got good usage of fastboot
so try flashing this HBOOT
get the "pyramid ics' one from here

flash it via fastboot ...instructions in the same link too
after this your bootloader should read *juopunutbear*
then flash recovery again..it will be successful

Alright, I'll try this method first. To make things easier, I will tell you what I i'm currently doing:

- Downloaded ICS Pyramid (jb_hboot)
- Phone in fastboot mod plus connected to PC (Windows)
- Opening command prompt (shift + right click in adb folder, that's where I put the files from hb_hboot)

C:\adb>fastboot erase cache
erasing ''cache'' ... OKAY [ 3.260s ]
finished. total time: 3.260s

C:\adb>fastboot oem rebootRUU
... INFOStart Verify: 0
INFOStart Verify: 0
INFOerase sector 130560 - 131071 (512)
OKAY [ 3.292s ]
finished. total time: 3.292s -------------> (I'm seeing a black screen/blue HTC)

C:\adb>fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip
error: cannot load ''jb_hboot.zip''

So ehm.. Should I just wait before the black screen disappears? Little confused over here
