Sorry not sure I understand but are you saying you rename the KDZ file to a TOT file and then flash. I have the same issue in that UG UP only seems to be looking for TOT files and there's no option to change it KDZ files.
Ya, there is a way, maybe delete .tot from the line and type in .kdz? I have done it before, but it is a pain.

Which stock firmware??

Hello,

I have an LG G3 D855 32GB running Android 5.0 v20c-SEA-xx , with the following info

  • <suffix>ASEAOP</suffix>
  • <buyer>SEA</buyer>
  • <file_name>D85530b_00_0812.kdz</file_name> <-- I'm guessing this was the initial firmware
  • <cs_em_flag>N</cs_em_flag>
  • <chip_type>EG</chip_type>

I would like to downgrade to kitkat firmware so I can install Bumpd! twrp, but I don't know which firmware to download. I tried looking up my suffix but didn't find any info. :( I'm downgrading to kitkat because I read that Bumpd! twrp is compatible only with kitkat's bootloader.

I think the firmware I want would be the Singapore version because of SEA buyer entry and the current v20c-SEA-xx android OS? Even if I guessed right, there's two for Singapore on OP's download site: D85510B_00 and D85521a_00 - I'm not sure which one...

I'm afraid of bricking my phone if I choose the wrong firmware, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! Thx for hard work!
I've watched many videos, it's always working for them :D

But on a D855 Android 6.0 - V30o
- LGUP is seeing a model "unknown"
- LG FlashTool show a "Failed PreviousLoad()"

Is there a way to downgrade a D855 to something that can be rooted then TWRP ?

You need the right .dll file for your model.

I'm running a V20 851 (TMobile) with CleanRom 2..6 (a stock Rom with bloat removed); Android 6.0, D85130g.

I lost root awhile back. I am trying to flash KDZ, but LGUP is not recognizing my phone. Help?

So it looks like I screwed up and my phone seems to be soft bricked now. Here's what happened:

My phone is a D852 on Fido Canada (although unlocked now). I wanted to downgrade to LP from MM.

I followed the instructions in Post #3 exactly. I downloaded the TELUS kdz file from the Canada D852 folder in the link. I know its not my original carrier, but could that have made the difference? Maybe it could have and I'm just dumb.

Everything flashed seemingly ok but now the phone doesn't boot, after the LG logo it shows a dead android with the red exclamation sign.

I can still enter the hard reset mode (vol. down + power; although the actual reset doesn't work) and download mode (but I cannot flash anything in LGUP anymore; it crashes at 6% with the following error regardless of rom:

Error: [*Time of flash*] Open
Packet Error No :
0x80000001

I also managed to get into recovery once by pressing vol. up + vol. down + power, and wiping the cache partition, but that also didn't help (nor was I really expecting it to). But I never managed to get into the recovery again after that one time.

Can my phone be completely dead? It certainly doesn't look like a true, hard brick. I shall be forever grateful if y'all can help me figure this out.

I have a G3 D855 and it keeps getting Demigod kernel crashed even if I factory resetted. so I tried using lg flashtool 2014 via CSE flash but it gives me error.

"Connection to server failed. Please try again in a moment"

I am already at Download mode. Hope someone can help me flash this

Using LGUP method. Makes the model Unknown on selection of com port so I cant use it either
attachment.php

when that happens just leave it and wait, it took me 5 mins to start loading the bar in download mode

Hi, how can I find the correct kdz? I don't understand the numbering scheme. I have a 16GB model, which says Software version V21a-EUR-XX, build number LRX21R.A1445306351. The device is on MM and I would like to downgrade it in order to root it, to install TWRP and ultimately flash LineageOS. Would Europe Common 16G D85510A_00.kdz be the correct choice? What file format do those kdz archives have, so that one can inspect its contents?

TO GO BACK TO LP FROM MM - Open LGUP on your computer, click on FILE PATH and point it towards your LP KDZ. Close LGUP and re-open LGUP. Make sure you select REFURBISH this will do a full wipe, tick BIN file. Press Start. Make cup of tea and be patient

Apparently there is no LP stock firmware for my region (common Europe) available. Can I also downgrade to Kitkat? I need it only in order to root it, install TWRP and ultimately flash LineageOS.

Video Viewer app

Hi there! Wonder if you could assist me. I don't have the stock video application to view my movies on my LG G3. Could you please guide me on how to get that application apk and odex file installed on my device?

Many thanks :)

Hello,
I like to use VLC for viewing all formats of video files. VLC has the most complete set of codecs that I have seen. You can get it for Windows, Linux, AND Android as well. It also plays audio, and it has a file selection setup that allows for by artist, album, or genre.

Are you sure that you used the firmware for exactly your model?
If you have stock kdz firmware for exactly your model (d855, f400...) use Lg Flash tool. Otherwise search for TOT firmware, LG UP, proper dll file. If everything is right for your model it shouldn't be any problem.

    thx
In the OP I just haven't fixed the links but if you go to the G2 guide I made long ago the links are there and just follow the g2 guide. My g3 guide is pretty much the same as mg g2 guide you just use G3 firmwares
