Thanks for sharing. I too found no difference in the changes that worked on my G2, nor what's posted here. I'll try this and see when I get some time because this phone's loud enough for me except on headphones.Hey everyone. So I've been dabbling with this mod for the past few weeks and to be honest, I didn't notice any difference in the sound volume. To be fair, my hearing is not what I would consider stellar so instead of guessing if it was working or not (I felt like it wasn't), I decided to do a little test.
Instead of increasing the volume, I decided to try and mute it. I changed the values described in the opening post to 0 and it had no effect. So I went about looking through numerous threads, changing values to 0 until a value actually muted it. In my mixer_paths.xml, I found these lines:
Found under:Code:1559 <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" /> 1560 <ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="84" />
and changed them 0. Voila, all sounds going to the headphones were gone. So i decided to now increase the values.Code:1549 <path name="headphones">
I initially tried to increase it to 109 (about 30%). I couln't go past about 60% on my phone's volume without feeling like I'd be deaf. I then tried 101 (about 20%).
It's still a little too strong but I'm going to experiment with it a little more to find a value that suits me and my poor hearing. [emoji14]
So my question is is this. Is it different for other variants?
The idea of modifying said value came from here.
No worries. Let me know how it goes. By the way, which variant are you using? Thanks for sharing. I too found no difference in the changes that worked on my G2, nor what's posted here. I'll try this and see when I get some time because this phone's loud enough for me except on headphones.
I initially thought so too. But when I wasn't noticing any improvements, I just went and thought to myself that I'll go ahead and 0 out values until I confirm which one mutes it (Also rebooting each time). I found the values I mentioned above to mute it, increased it and voila, louder sound. Can you try it out by muting on your end as well? I guess each variant has its own value that needs to be edited. I'm using the 818p by the way. This guide I posted is for the G4 after testing *many* lines (each requiring a reboot).
I would have thought that all the variants would be pretty much the same?
Man the sound of the G4 is just horrific. No matter what I do it sounds gross, and I'm highly debating carrying along my old S3 as an MP3 player. It's just really disappointing plugging my headphones in every time...

You have the dual sim model, right? It seems to have some strange little differences, but the guy right above your post said it worked on his lol.I initially thought so too. I agree. Loudness is the only thing we can change so I went with that. Or maybe we're just used to Boeffla Sound?![]()
Yes, I do have the 818P. Well, it could be a similar placebo effect that I too was experiencing prior to trying to look for the correct values. I suppose that confirms it. Either different models or different software versions are affecting this file. I'm on v10F.You have the dual sim model, right? I checked my values and they do mute when I put them to 0, so I'm not sure.
I would check your other ones but I don't have any bluetooth audio devices.
Cheers![]()
I'm sorry, I'm not too certain. I just had to do the mod again myself due to receiving my device back from warranty work (again) and it all is functioning okay.Noticed that the mod has stopped working. I haven't made any other modifications, only thing i can think of is that FX explorer had been updated. Could that affect the mod?
Tried on my H818N..... works like charm... thx a ton.......:good:Yes, I do have the 818P. Neither do I. I suppose when someone comes around the thread with a Bluetooth device, they could try it out for us. :highfive:
No worries. Glad to hear it's not just me. Which parameter did you change?Tried on my H818N..... works like charm... thx a ton.......:good:
The one mentioned in the OP.... set it to 92........No worries. Glad to hear it's not just me. Which parameter did you change?
Try this instead:Could not get the headphone RX settings to do anything![]()
Changed all the RX1 / RX2 from 88/84/81 (defaults) to 92.
