So LGUP will allow me to upgrade my unlocked 20a to 20e right? If I go through the process does it factory reset the device or can I upgrade on top?

Not quite sure what model you have. I have a 405QA7 (unlocked USA) and it updated itself from a to e shortly after I first powered it on. When it did this, it did not reset my device.

What I've heard is:

Refurbish puts the phone into fresh out of the box condition.

Upgrade in LGUP leaves the data partition intact. If this is indeed the case, I don't know which slot it would flash to, the one in use or the other one. There seem to be a lot of unknowns here.

Flash and find out. Report back. That's how we increase our knowledge base. And as soon as LG releases the KDZ for Android 10 for its device, we'll all be in the same boat.

So go ahead, I'll hold your beer .... :D

yes my friend i try to install a free room to remove the t-mobile using lgup but when charging 100% it just shuts down and no longer turns on now only recognizes the pc port as qualcoom 9008 but the lgup flash program no longer
I am not sure how/if you can recover from that one. Perhaps a repair show, LG, or T-Mobile can help?

Well i did mention in the OP that if you have a T-Mobile device to only flash T-Mobile KDZ or else you would get a brick....but if you have access to 9008 there might be hope...

@Ainz_Ooal_Gown, Thanks for posting this. I’ve read a lot but I’m having difficulty figuring out how to begin.
I just bought a carrier unlocked V405QA running V405UA20a. I see “Enable OEM Unlock” and I confirmed I can make calls with my t-mobile sim card.

My goal is to install Lineage 17.1 with root via TWRP and use it on my t-mobile account.

I was planning on following this guide then follow (this and this ) or just this one from getdroidtips.com.

Should I skip this guide and don't crossflash if I’m going to install Lineage via TWRP anyway?

Can you recommend a best approach?

If you have a US unlocked V405QA...keep that firmware on it as it's the best one out of all the stock roms so don't cross flash...and yes follow both Xsavi and Markus' guides for bootloader unlock and TWRP flashing

But u can root your A10 rom.. backup your boot_a or boot_b as per your active slot from qfil ,patch it in magisk manager(untick force encryption and d/m varity) and flash it through fastboot or qfil..

So I used the tutorial found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76995781&postcount=26 and managed to successfully crossflash US universal rom to my ATT LG v50 since the ATT firmware cannot be found but my phone still doesn't boot. Now everytime my phone boots, it has a circle that says "erasing" but it will not boot. I am at a complete lost! I can get into download mode, I can get into EDL mode, but I cannot get the phone to boot. It just gets stuck on the LG logo。 Prior to the LG Logo, there's a now a new screen where the phone says “erasing” and now the phone says that my phone failed a routine safety check and is unable to boot

I have V405UA AT&T version and will I be able to flash Korean version with this LGUP?
I wanted to follow up on this statement. Is the ATT version like every other version or is the software locked to the CPU, meaning if I flash another version on to this phone, the phone won't boot. I have done this, and the phone isn't booting, and the problem is there is no ATT kdz out there, so I've been told, the only solution is to change the CPU. Is this right? This is because it has IMPL lock

Reload the US unlocked 20e KDZ for Pie, then try to boot again.

Use refurbish, not update in LGUP.

OK that didn't work, I wonder if it is because the KDZ that I downloaded is corrupted. I was looking at the phone and the transfer went to 98% and then it restarted itself. I think it'll be best if i download the file again, and try again。

I've checked the MD5 of the file, and they match, so the file is probably not corrupted so now I'm downloading V405UA020a_02_USC_US_OP, since the model numbers are the same, maybe it will flash correctly
