If people are interested in exploring then I encourage trying, but using the correct methods. If the 'fastboot boot' command is used instead of 'fastboot flash' to initially try a kernel (e.g. boot.img) then no harm is done, rebooting the phone will revert to the original kernel. If the new kernel boots fine then 'fastboot flash' it.

That's a low risk way of trying different things out. Still a fair amount of risk without yet having a custom recovery.

Oxygen updater is still not showing 11.0.2.2 AA full rom update is it just me?

I am also on AA. 11.0.1.1.IN21AA build number

A few questions.
I'm about to root on 11.0.1.1IN21AA on an IN2013.
I had managed to use PDC on OOS10 to get VoLTE working on Vodafone NZ/Spark. It retained itself on 11.IN21AA the first release of OOS11 stable and I even got 5G as a bonus.
Do we know if modem profiles are being changed in the OTA that VoLTE just stops working?
Should I even root to get those back or wait for Oneplus to fix it(2.2 which is the second OTA does not fix this btw)?

I extracted and patched the 11.0.2.2 boot.img under 11.0.1.1 (not sure if this makes a difference - never done this before) and put it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=10763459528675593994
It's past midnight here, so I'll wait until tomorrow evening to test it. Please let me know if I did it wrong, then I'll remove the magisk_patched.img ASAP.

Just to follow up: I've now upgraded to 11.0.2.2 (IN21BA) with the magisk_patched image I linked to. And it works :victory::highfive:

Actually I just did this anyway and I'll stay rooted on 1.1
Looks like Oneplus are changing modem profiles every OTA breaking VoLTE and 5G(main reason why I needed to be rooted because in initial OOS11 this worked just fine).

Hi there, I can't predict what OP will do so, if I were you, I would assume you need to retain root for these purposes until you know it's no longer necessary.

Thanks for the link for the patched boot image. Is there a link anywhere to download the full 11.0.2.2 ROM for the OP8 Global? I've searched here and on Google and haven't found one as of today's date. I did find ROMS for India and Europe, but not Global.

I realize that to update from 11.0.1.1 to 11.0.2.2 all I need is the patched ROM. But for the next update I'll need the full ROM in order to extract the unpatched boot.img file.

Just updated to 11.0.2.2.IN21AA and tried to flash but still didn't work are you on IN2015?

Edit: I got it to work! So basically i reread the posts and since I didn't uninstall the mondules on Magisk prior to updating. I had to run in the cmd "adb wait-for-device shell magisk --remove-modules" during the bootloop, which removes the modules that were previously installed, but not compatible with the update. It booted up immediately and Magisk is installed.

No full package yet that I'm aware of. I got tired of waiting, removed root, applied incremental update, found presumably the only person in the world that could pull a 11.0.2.2 boot image, I then patched it, and here we are.
