Hello, I am having a problem and I need some help.
I followed the guide on my brand new OP9Pro EU version. I installed Magisk Canary and rooted the phone as per the instructions. It was working correctly.
Then, I wanted to go back to Magisk 23, so I uninstalled the Magisk Canary app and installed the Magisk 23 apk.
I tried to direct install with Magisk 23 and then I lost root.
Now, the phone boots from slot b every time. I tried booting from slot A and it failed.
I flashed slot A with the 11.2.9.9 boot.img, set the slot a as default through fastboot and it booted fine.
Now, every time I reboot, the phone boots slot b but slot a seems to be working correctly.
I tried to root again but it is not working. I am booting the 11.2.9.9 magisk_boot.img, opening either Magisk 23 or Canary but I get no option to Direct Install. So I am stuck without root.
Is this because the phone is booting from slot b and Magisk expects slot a? Or is there something else wrong?
I also flashed magisk_boot.img directly but I still cannot get root access, Magisk shows Installed: N/A.
Any ideas or advice on what to do?
Edit: It seems as if the phone is trying to start with slot a for a split second, then probably fails and boots slot b. The screen flashes just for half a second with the boot animation, then goes dark for a couple of seconds, then shows the boot animation again and starts booting.
fastboot getvar all:
Code:
(bootloader) current-slot:b
(bootloader) has-slot:boot:yes
(bootloader) slot-retry-count:b:7
(bootloader) slot-unbootable:b:no
(bootloader) slot-successful:b:yes
(bootloader) slot-retry-count:a:7
(bootloader) slot-unbootable:a:yes
(bootloader) slot-successful:a:no
(bootloader) slot-count:2
Edit: OK I managed to fix slot a by reinstalling the OTA via local update.
Still though, I boot magisk_boot.img through the bootloader, install one of the Magisk apps and I have no Direct Install option.
Edit again: I fixed it. I had to boot TWRP recovery and delete the /data/adb/magisk.db file that was left from the previous installation of Magisk that I uninstalled incorrectly. I have root access again.
