ok guys. I made the same mistake and flashed the update from the Oxygen updater. So I lost root and was looking for the patched magisk file for c64 but couldnt find it. Can someone provide the file for me? Thx

No. I will describe the whole process:
I switched from C61 EU back to Global using Rollback and then upgraded to Global. I continued the updates up to C61. C61 original boot img was modified by me in Magisk. C62 came up... in magisk I clicked "uninstall Magisk/restore image", incremental update went fine to C62. After installation in Magisk I clicked "install to inaktive slot" - All OK.
C63 came up and I wanted to repeat the previous method, but I got the error message I wrote before: " image does not exist". So there should have been a backup from before but there was none. I don't understand where I went wrong...

I found this post btw for all those who do not know how to install incremental updates. It alway worked for me.

So after alot of looking up random information I found out that if you previously updated using oxygen updater on a full package and not incremental update to update and keep your root you will need to download the full package and then do a local update and then use magisk to install to inactive slot then reboot (DO NOT REBOOT AFTER THE DOWNLOAD HAS INSTALLED) Then you should keep your root and have c.64 installed aswell.

I hate this so much.
I accidentally pressed "update now" in the OTA and thought it would start downloading and installing, giving me the opportunity to patch AFTERWARDS, but it immedeately restarted! C.64
I then somehow messed up the patching.
I then found some boot image that allowed me to reboot again. now i have no root. and i can not patch the boot file. it says, it is already modified.
And advice?

I am furious.
I've kicked off LSPosed and the phone can't boot.
The red dots are spinning and after a while they slow down further spinning.
I admit that I have some stuff on my phone and I want it to stand up.
Will someone help? What should I do now?
Maybe upload a clean C.63/C.64? If so, how to do it?

By some miracle, the phone got up. I think I pressed something during startup - all modules from Magisk are disabled.

I installed the open beta and after loading it into the local updater, there was only the option "Install" which caused an instant reboot, so I had to manually root again afterwards. It seems like the behavior has changed and installing without a reboot to install Magisk to the inactive slot is not available anymore.

You have to use the system update app to avoid rebooting and then you can install to inactive slot.

I followed the instructions for keeping my root according to:
Option 1: With full OTA Access (BA/DA) :

Step 1 - Get & install the full OTA zip file​

1. Go to System-Update or update get the OTA using Oxygen Updater

2. Tap OK when the message that you are rooted appears

3. Tap "Download and install" or local update if OTA from Oxygen Updater
For Android 12, install this APK "OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk": https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664848215

4. Wait until you are prompted to reboot - DO NOT REBOOT NOW!

But I never got a message asking me if I want to reboot when the system update had finished. My device rebooted anyway and after I logged in again I noticed that I was updated on C64 and had lost my root.

Now I don't know how to proceed.. Should I use the magisked boot from first post to root?

Yes, boot into the matching boot.img from the first post and install Magisk from there. I did the same after the update to C64 because the same happened to me.

I have seen people having problems, random drops to L3, not permanent root and other things...

But why should I believe the old comments when I can ask someone right here right now. Is it really that dangerous to do anything on this phone?

Nothing is dangerous when you are doing. Any device can be in danger in hands of someone who dosen't know enough. I haven't had any issues but I have never flashed a custom rom. I'll stay on rooted stock.

No the guide is not up-to-date, but the patched boot files are added regularly at the 1st post.
I love this device and never had any issues with Android 12 or root.
But when you upgrade to newer stock rom versions you need to be careful not to lose root.

I was rooted. I disabled all modules. I have updated all over till C64 using system OTA. I have obviously lost root when OTA were done. Just booted the magisk boot, direct install and back to rooted phone. I did not lost my data none applications.
Somebody knows how to get back the restart options like restart to recovery mode or to fastboot?
