Thanks, it workedJust use c61 patched boot. I had the same, and works fine.
Boot it with patched c61, then in magisk app install magisk directly.

It worked great for my first root to my 9Pro that I just got in my hands!
Why go to A12, it's junky.....I hated 12 and went back to 11. Just my opinion....On OOS 11.2.10.10 with root. Was wondering if I update to OOS 12, can I flash and install magisk to inactive slot or should a factory reset be done before upgrading.
I would actually have to agree with you. I will probably stay on 11. I upgraded my 8t to 12 and I upgraded the way I always have. Download, local install, no reboot, magisk to inactive slot and reboot. Seems like I had a few bugs with 12 also and I figured it was from flashing a different version over the one I had without resetting. My 9 pro has been great so far with 11.2.10.10. I guess if I get a wild hair, I'll do it the way Ive been doing and it should be ok.Why go to A12, it's junky.....I hated 12 and went back to 11. Just my opinion....
only way I got it rooted was I was on c.48 and installed to inactive slot on c.62 update. I will pull it from partition backup and post when I get it

If people would do their research the reward is greater than just asking for it. Check post 1415!

What magisk version do u use?Hi guys, I rooted my OP9Pro (Android 12, stock rom) and copied all data from the OT8 to the 9Pro but:
- all permissions for the copied apps are gone when using oneplus phone clone
- I am missing the option for "Magik_hide" - after root ehy are not available
- how can I configure OP9Pro to get the menue for shutdown/restart via one button (not 2, which are currently needed)

How to update OTA and KEEP ROOT
It is advised to disable or even uninstall all magisk modules to be safe!
How: go to Magisk application/modules/disable &/or uninstall
Option 1: With full OTA Access (BA/DA) :
Step 1 - Get & install the full OTA zip file
1. Go to System-Update or update get the OTA using Oxygen Updater
2. Tap OK when the message that you are rooted appears
3. Tap "Download and install" or local update if OTA from Oxygen Updater
For Android 12, install this APK "OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk": https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664848215
4. Wait until you are prompted to reboot - DO NOT REBOOT NOW!

That's odd, I'm getting a lot better battery life on f-18. I use my phone for work and usually about 8 hours into my 12-hour shift I charge my phone when it gets to 20%Friends, how is yours battery status after upgrade to F.18?
The battery dies in the eyes.
I don't know if it's the fault of FW or maybe the fault of Magisk, which I uninstalled and reinstalled - between the update from F.17 to F.18 I didn't do anything else with the system or applications.

You can download the EU stock boot.img that's in this thread (2nd post), download the latest magisk canary manager and patch that boot.img. Then you can temporarily gain root by rebooting to bootloader and booting that image ex. "fastboot boot boot.img"( your boot.img name will vary after patching). After the phone boots you can just go into magisk manager and do a "direct install" and that will patch your global boot.img to gain permanent root.
My method:This seems way too easy. After reading several attempts and resulting soft bricks and whatnot, you're saying:
Uninstall magisk (or just the app?)
(Won't this leave you unrooted and unable to install magisk alpha?)
Install magisk alpha
Reboot
Local update to a12
Don't reboot
Install magisk (alpha) to inactive slot after ota
Reboot
I'm holding off on a12 until a kernal or two are available, bugs are worked out, and a crystal clear update method.
