Best way is to root and use Safestrap to flash a KitKat ROM. I do not recommend the official OTA KitKat.
Thanks - I really appreciate you offering to get me straightened out. I have made my way back to a rooted MJ5 Firmware and after checking the MD5 of the URDroid I downloaded and seeing IT DIDN"T MATCH I think I answered my own question. I am about to go through it again from the beginning - took me a while to get back to a rooted JB state with Safestrap, but I think I will be okay - Thanks again. If it fails again I will get with you later...You could check out the AT&T Note 3 All-In-One thread....it has a list of all the currently available KitKat ROMs. If you are already on UrDroid/KitKat you can just download any of these ROM.zips and flash in Safestrap....no Odin required.

Glad you got it figured out! Let me know if I can help! Thanks - I really appreciate you offering to get me straightened out. EDIT: That was it... I am on rooted 4.4.2 - my biggest problem is figuring out what ROM I want to settle in with for a while. Thank you Sir!!!
So I can't just unroot with SuperUser, plug in an ATT sim card and do the OTA updates to kitkat?Best way is to root and use Safestrap to flash a KitKat ROM. I do not recommend the official OTA KitKat.
If you would like to keep root & Safestrap absolutely do not do this. If you want official AT&T unrootable KitKat...feel free!So I can't just unroot with SuperUser, plug in an ATT sim card and do the OTA updates to kitkat?
There is not a current root method available. SorryOnce you are on the stupid non-rootable AT&T stock 4.4.2 is there any way to get back to 4.3? I tried the ODIN method but fails unless I am missing something,
I used the odexed version. I don't intend to theme or do anything drastic to my phone, so I prefer to keep the performance in tact... Though using deodexed probably has little impact on a phone of this caliber...thanks I appreciate that. And thank you for the heads up. Just another odd question which rom is better I guess. The odexed or deodexed ROM.... I have the odexed with the bloatware.
Oh I can't wait for that to happen. If this is the trend, I doubt I will be purchasing anymore carrier phones.Stay tuned my man. There may have been some breakthroughs made this evening in regards to the bootloader. If we can get it cracked you will be good to go (from my current understanding).

Try it again. Should be no issues with data.I was able to revert back to jb. Mobile data works there. I'm crazy enough to try it again.
Smh. Hit wipe data by accident in ss. Everything gone. Only download mode and stock recovery. This should be fun.Try it again. Should be no issues with data.

Inconvenient. But don't panic cause if you can get into download mode you can fix it. You don't have Safestrap installed anymore?Smh. Hit wipe data by accident in ss. Everything gone. Only download mode and stock recovery. This should be fun.

i dont get the safestrap bootscreen spalsh just boots right into the phone
yeah I didn't panic. I tend to do this the first time I get a new phone and I screw around with it lol. I was up until about 4 am before I gave up trying to get mj5 loaded. I then realized this morning that I was missing a crucial step marked IMPORTANT in big red friggin letters.Inconvenient. But don't panic cause if you can get into download mode you can fix it. Just PM Me and I will walk you through all the steps if you are having issues.
Sorry man! I was outside all day working in the yard. I have no idea why you aren't getting data either. Answer me this...are you able to go into settings -> connections -> more networks -> mobile networks -> access point names? Do you have an APN in there?yeah I didn't panic. got MJ5 on and just made the switch again to kitkat. first boot shows no mobile data still on the odex build. i'm going to reboot and if not, flash the deodex. otherwise, i have no idea why this is happening. on jb i have mobile data no problem.
