Sorry man! I was outside all day working in the yard. I have no idea why you aren't getting data either. Answer me this...are you able to go into settings -> connections -> more networks -> mobile networks -> access point names? Do you have an APN in there?
Yeah and it's correct.

Well, I ended up soft bricked anyway.........

Then I flashed URDroid, and here I saw 2 error lines at the bottom, each line referencing E:\ "unable to format" or something similar.
I too had two errors with "E:\ unable to format" messages. I get stuck at the Galaxy 3 Note logo after boot. (i have had errors with other roms on other phones and have been told to ignore them in the past.)

What do I do next? I have reloaded the BL CP AP and PIT files about 5 times now.

yeah I didn't panic. I tend to do this the first time I get a new phone and I screw around with it lol. I was up until about 4 am before I gave up trying to get mj5 loaded. I then realized this morning that I was missing a crucial step marked IMPORTANT in big red friggin letters.

got MJ5 on and just made the switch again to kitkat. first boot shows no mobile data still on the odex build. i'm going to reboot and if not, flash the deodex. otherwise, i have no idea why this is happening. on jb i have mobile data no problem.
How long have you waited? On the first boot it takes a few minutes before a cell phone signal is acquired.

Having a similar issue - always stuck at the boot logo, and have done it about 5 times now. I THINK that with the error you're having (probably unable to format /data and /system) that you have to kind of start over - get back to stock MJ5 using this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715

I'm not really sure though - just ideas. Any help would be appreciated guys!

Thanks - I really appreciate you offering to get me straightened out. I have made my way back to a rooted MJ5 Firmware and after checking the MD5 of the URDroid I downloaded and seeing IT DIDN"T MATCH I think I answered my own question. I am about to go through it again from the beginning - took me a while to get back to a rooted JB state with Safestrap, but I think I will be okay - Thanks again. If it fails again I will get with you later...

EDIT: That was it... I am on rooted 4.4.2 - my biggest problem is figuring out what ROM I want to settle in with for a while. Thank you Sir!!!
I've been having the exact same issue - wanted to know how I know what the MD5 is supposed to be? I got the following for the MD5 on the deodexed version: 26F02C87429D8A376953A93ED30668C7

EDIT: never mind, just checked, it isn't my MD5. Any other ideas?

When I'm flashing in ODIN, which of the following should be checked?:

Auto-Reboot
Re-Partition
F. Reset Time
Flash Lock
LED Control
Nand Erase All
T Flash

By default, the first three are checked, and that's what I always leave checked. But since I've done this about 100 times now, I want to check every little thing.

Also, what should the Binary Size at the bottom show? I've got 89.5MB.

Thanks!

the auto-reboot and F.reset time are checked by default. When you add the PIT file, it checks Re-Partition. That's all - only three should be checked.

Binary Size -- can't remember the exact number, but I remember 89.

I have followed this guide and am finally on KK with no issues however, I want to do the install again. The reason is because I didn't do a complete wipe, there are still unused files on my device that are taking up a lot of space. Do I have to do All the steps over including Odin? Or
Do I just use safe strap and reinstall the rom?

I searched the forum but couldn't find the correct steps for Note 3, can some one suggest me how to use ISIS on rooted ATT Kitkat?

Thanks in advance.

Followed the guide and it worked great.Only problem is now the screen only recognizes the s-pen. My finger no longer works on it.

Edit: A couple reboots fixed it

Not sure what to do?

I followed the instructions but when odin rebooted my phone it only gave me a black screen and it vibrates when i press the power button. I can still get into recovery and download mode. Sorry if its been asked before but i cant find any other problem that fits this descriptions.

Update: I managed to get it back on MJ5, it might have been a bad download. I will try to upgrade later.

Worked great - one thing that I did wrong the first time around was to try and run the Odin session from within a VMWare virtual machine. Odin would start and begin to do its thing but then hang up pretty early in the process and report "operation failed 0/1". When I ran it from my host machine it worked just fine, so my bad.

Didn't see a reference to that issue so thought I'd put a mention out there in case anyone else runs into it.

Thanks to all involved for doing the work behind this. Too bad it is required - I'll be voting with my wallet next time around, no more locked bootloaders for me - but glad there are so many creative and talented people that make it possible (easy, even!) for us to modify the very expensive devices we've paid for.

Still having trouble :/

I was successfully able to upgrade to KitKat but like others had mentioned I still cannot get the SafeStrap 3.72 splash screen upon boot. I've tried reflashing with oden, tried several different apks but still no luck.
Please Help!

I face similar problem. After flashing to KK my PC can not detect N900A. I try to install Safestrap apk, but installation progress goes forever. I decide to remove SD card (there was some errors on it) - and BINGO - everything start working - PC detect my N900A, Safestrap installed ok. After reboot splash screen appears and i install The_S5_Experience_by_Jtrain88_v1.5 without any issue :)
