Stuck on boot image!

Hey! I followed this method down to every single line. I still somehow managed to get stuck in the bootimage where it says" Samsung GALAXY Note 3 with open padlock with custom."
I can go to download mode and recovery mode (not the safestrap one) .
Please help me. How do I fix this???

Softbricked

I followed the steps until the Odin part.
It get stuck during the Odin flash.
I seemed to have soft bricked my phone.

I'm using VMware to emulate Windows XP to use Odin.

<ID:0/003> modem.bin
<ID:0/003> Transmission Complete..
<ID:0/003> Now Writing.. Please wait about 2 minutes
<ID:0/003> Receive Response from boot-loader
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Any suggestions?

I'm just a noob here but many seem to have trouble using Odin on virtual machines. Get a $50 laptop running Windows XP or better off Craigslist and try again.

This method worked well for me. If you follow his instructions (TO THE LETTER) you should have no problems, provided you did your homework first.
Had a Note3 with 4.4.2 on it from att. Could not root it, so I got them to take it back and give me one that still had 4.3 on it. Was able to root and upgrade to 4.4.2 (with root) with these instructions. Again, do your homework and make sure you have everything correct before you do it. :highfive::victory: If you don't, the headaches are overwhelming. Trust me.

Also a lot more information on these same subjects Here and Here.

I followed this guide in its entirety a few weeks ago and in the end flashed a custom ROM (Pure). Everything went smoothly but now I'd like to try Dynamic Kat.

What steps of this guide do I need to repeat? I want to totally replace Pure. Do I only need to do a factory reset in SS, select install and navigate to the Dynamic Kat archive, or do I need to go back to the undroid ROM, use Odin, etc. then flash Dynamic Kat?

Much thanks for any advice.

Edit: Resolved. I'll just do a factory wipe and install the new ROM over the old one.

Using Heimdall (linux and osx):
download the odin zip in original post

- flash UrDroid KitKat zip in safestrap
- open heimdall and go to the 'flash' tab
- select the PIT file from the odin zip
- extract AP, BL, and CP tar files from the odin zip
- under partition details, choose one for each tar file (all should match the names except DBI -> sbi.mbn)
- click start then reboot as usual

When you go to the post where you download urdroid it also says something about a coming from jb zip file do you need this file to flash this because it says nothing about it in the instrucions and someone said before that i needed that file but when i asked how its done i got no answer can someone here answer this for me please?

Those files are included in the "Download ODIN.zip (includes all needed files + instructions)".

Ok it says the coming from jb zip files are included but it says nowhere in the instructions about them does that mean its already in there and its added automaticly or what .sorry for the dumb question but im still unclear on how this is used or added and ive tried before to go to a kitkat rom and ended up with a soft bricked phone and a few people have already said they followed the directions to the letter and ended up soft bricking.

upgrading to kitkat at Best Buy?

Sorry for double post. I figured, this would be a better place to post this -

I'm using AT&T Note 3 on T-Mobile. No AT&T account.I have JB 4.3, MJ5 and not rooted.

Since root for KitKat is available now, what are the advantages of upgrading to KitKat using method listed by OP vs going to best buy and flashing it there?

Thanks

P.S. I have issues with GPS and read somewhere KitKat fixes it. That's the main reason I want KitKat.
I also want to get hotspot working and I guess I need to root for that. Will I have any issues with hotspot once I update to KitKat?

Tried it again and same thing odin can see the phone on other roms but not the kitkat rom ?you can hear the computer recognizing the phone is pluged in but odin wont show its there.

So, can anyone explain the advantages of upgrading to KitKat using method listed by OP vs going to best buy and flashing it there?

Since 4.4 root is available, what's the advantage?

Thanks

If you were kinda stuck on jb like i was this is the best way .if your already on kitkat then this way is not needed because safstrap installs the same way and flashing is done the same way in safestrap if you used the new method for rooting

There isnt much differance in the two but i think most of the devs will be building more kitkat roms insted of jb roms so you might be limited to a few older roms if you stay on jb insted of the latest and greatest stuff
