If you backed up the system image before you flashed the ROM, please restore it first and do a factory reset, just so be safe. Can I upgrade to pie from AOSP 9.0?
Since only the system image is different (from EMUI 8.0), it should be fine IMO, but I need some confirmation before I try it.
Uh, that is scary. And thanks for your help, in this case I will definitely restore the stock rom first, and only if that boots will I flash the EMUI 9.I bricked my phone trying to do this.
It should work, can you please post the TWRP log?How can we update from p157 to p163 (pie)? I tried the #4 tutorial from Jannomag, but it doesn't work out.
I have successfully downgraded from pie to oreo, using oreo rollback .384 firmware from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database and a bit modified script from @Jannomag tutorial 4 : piedowngrade_pack.zip
(MD5: 9f655e3dab27a7024c87eca14559f1b9)
Need to create "piedowngrade" folder on sdcard and unzip there above archive, also put the update.zip and data_full_hw.zip firmware files - similarly as in tutorial 4. "piedowngrade" folder should contain files:
- piedowngrade.zip
- VTR_RECOVERY_OREO_NoCheck.img
- update.zip
- data_full_hw.zip
This script should also work with upgrade from pie to newer pie.
When downgrade be sure to use proper oreo rollback firmware which contain only two files: update.zip and update_full_MODEL_hw_[].zip (example update_full_VTR-L29_hw_eu.zip) (It is 8.0.0.384, FullOTA_MF, 2.86GB, released 2019.02.18)
After flashing firmware, recovery aditionaly performed full wipe, everything seems to work fine, only one odd thing occured - that the data_full_hw.zip file remained on sdcard in 'piedowngrade' folder.
@lukastob Modified the script so the partition names are correct. The recovery partitions was called recovery_ramdisk_a on Oreo, now on Pie it's just recovery_ramdisk.How can pie downgrade, will help, if I want to update? If so where where can I find the steps? Thanks
From B157 or B163?@lukastob Modified the script so the partition names are correct. The recovery partitions was called recovery_ramdisk_a on Oreo, now on Pie it's just recovery_ramdisk.
I'm ready with Tutorial #5, but I need the stock recovery_ramdis.img from latest Pie update.APP. It would be great, if someone has it and can upload it for me. At the moment the download would take too long for me (3 hrs).
Thanks for your reply. I managed to install TWRP but when I flash pieupdate.zip, script returns an error says unable to detect flash type. aI'll release Tutorial #5 tomorrow when I have the time. Oreos TWRP still works under Pie, but without decryption, maybe sideload and mtp. But for flashing my script it will be enough.
