I have chinese variant mate 20 X 8gb 256G. I bought this phone so that i will not need any tweaks, roots, mods. But now root is released i cant stop myself from tweaking it more. I have AL000 version so is there any need to unlock bootloader? Or just flash the ramdisk and enjoy root

Op says you need the bootloader to be unlocked.

You cannot flash the global rom on the Chinese variant as of yet. This isn't a rom thread it's a root thread and as for the bootloader unlock, do a quick search and you'll see many tutorials on how to unlock the bootloader using a paid service.

The TL00 is the carrier branded mate 20x or porche edition of the mate 20 pro?. If you can unlock the bootloader, it's worth a try. Other than that it's hard to say.

Only thing I find is that the TL-00 is China Telecom and AL-00 is China Unicom. Only some radio bands seem to change between them. But if the firmware doesn't change, root should technically work on both.

Those who have rooted their phones. Can you guys still use Mobile Banking apps with no problem as well as finger print scanner?

My mobile bank apps (chase, capital one) work just fine and fingerprint scanner sign in works as well. As for Google pay and such, I think it's only successfully working with the EVR-L29

As for Google pay and such, I think it's only successfully working with the EVR-L29

1. On Chinese versions, GooglePay works well with MasterCard does not work with VIZA
2. All Google applications are installed and run on Chinese versions without Root.
3. On Chinese versions, the call recording from the line is in stock. It does not work on the global version.
