This Guide Only Tested On These Phones. So, I would Recommend These Only to Users of These Phones.



As We See Although Owning Same Device We Have Users Who Take Most Out Of Their Device And Some Just Sit Around Take Pictures And Call Or text Only. There Are Many Threads On XDA About Modifying Our Phones. So I Gathered Those And Made This.

1. Connect Your Device to PC.
a. Make Sure You Selected MSC Mode From {Settings ~Xperia~Connectivity}
b. Enable USB Debugging

2. Now Go To Settings-About Phone , See Your Build Number[Last 2 Digits]

IF You Are On .58 Continue Rooting (Ignore Step 3)
But If You Are On .62 Follow step 3 Or You Will Not Have Root.

Download Your Phone GB .58 Firmware (.ftf) from Here according To Your Device

Now Install And Open Flashtool Folder (C:\\Flashtool\Drivers) And Run The .exe
And Check All Boxes It Will Now Install Drivers[If Any Warning Shows up Select Install Anyway]
Now Turn Your Phone Off And Reconnect The Battery.
Then Start Flash Tool And [Unpack The Archive To Get the FTF File] Drag the FTF File To Flashtool White Screen And press Ok.
Now You Will Asked To Connect Your Device To PC In FlashMode.
So Connect USB Cable To Your Phone While Pressing Volume Down Button.
Now You Will See Green LED On Your Phone LED Light.[IF NO LED Do It Again]
Now Flashtool Will Flash Firmware.[If Any Error Comes Up Do It Again]
Wait For Phone To Boot UP. Follow To Root.
4.[Same From Now On For All Phones]{Those Who Flashed .58 on Step 3 Please Redo Step 1}
5.Now Run The Root Kit. Open Folder And run runme.bat with Administrator
6.Now Press Any key And Your Phone Will Reboot After A Few SEcs.
7.Yahoo!!!!!!!!You Have Root Access Now.

B. Upgrade To ICS Offline

1.Download Your Required Files.[FTF According To Your Device]

2.Unpack The FTF File And Drag It To The Flashtool Main Window And press Ok.
3.Connect Phone To FlashMode When Asked.[Power off And While Connecting To PC Press Volume Down ,Confirm By Seeing The Green led]
4.Now Reboot To Your System When Done.

C. Ice-Cream Sandwich Root [Needed Only For Stock Rom][No need If Installing Stock Based ROMs]
Locked BootLoader

1. Downgrade To Gingerbread And Root As Described Above.
2. Root Gingerbread As Described Above.

4. Unpack it And Run 01-local-prop
5. Upgrade To ICS ,But While Upgrading When You The Confirm Window Uptick The Wipe Data option.
6. Then Enable Unknown Sources[From Security] And USB Debugging [From Developers option]
7. Now Run 02-push-root-files.
8. You Will Have Root Access.

Un-Locked Boot Loaders

1. Flash Custom Kernel [Instructions][ICS ONLY]
Download any kernel Of Your Wish Or This Kernel –http://bit.ly/18FhLfg [Not Available For Active]
Open Flashtool. And Select The bolt Icon-Fastboot mode
a. Connect To Fastboot Mode [Power Off Then Connect While pressing Volume up Button]
b. If you See The Blue LED ,Then Continue
c. Select Kernel To Flash On The Right Side 2nd Option
d. Browse And select kernel
e.IF no error occurs ,Reboot And Have Root

CWM Installation [Clockwork MODE Custom Recovery]

Locked BootLoader

2. Open Folder And Run install-cwm2.cmd
3. Press Enter And Recovery Will Be installed.
Unlocked Bootloader
Flashing Custom kernel Will Install Recovery.

CWM Recovery instructions

How To Enter?- Power off And While Booting Up keep pressing Volume Down Button.
Options?
1. Reboot System
2. Install zip From SD card-Installs Zip From SD Card[Required to Flash Mods And ROMs]
3. Factory Reset-Resets All Data
4. Wipe cache partition – Deletes/formats Cache[Required After Flashing A mod]
5. Backup And Restore-Backup All Data and Restore If Something Goes Wrong.
6. Advance
a. Wipe dalvik cache – Deletes dalvik cache[requires After Flashing mods]

Recovery Buttons

Select - Menu
Please Note That Recovery Interface May vary depending On the Version You Are using.

Basic MODS For you [requires root, cwm ]
Instructions:
1.Download The proper Mod And Place it On The root Of your SD Card.
2. Reboot to CWM Recovery.
3.Navigate To install zip From SD Card-chose zip to install-select what You Want To Flash. And Confirm By Yes.
4.Get Back To Main Recovery Menu And Select To Wipe Cache And in Advance-Wipe Dalvik Cache
5.Reboot to System

Problem: we keep settings at GSM only. But at every restart it changes to WCDMA preferred forcing we on 3G network auto.since We applied the official ics upgrade it has been there.


Fix:
1-How to use Baksmali_Smali.exe ( you need know this)
2-Extract your classes.dex file from framework.jar
3-Go to framework\smali\com\android\internal\telephony\
4-Copy new file into telephony folder

Unlocking BootLoader

Note: By Unlocking Bootloader you Will VOID Your Warranty. Please Proceed With Caution.
Flashtool Method
1. First Of All Get your IMEI No.[Dial *#06# To Get IT Write Down First 14 Digits Of It]
2. Then Go Here- http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
3. Read Everything And Fill Out The Form With Correct Information. And Visit your E-Mail To get the Code Afterwards.
4. I Am Using Flashtool To Do It. Alternatives Below.
5. Install Drivers From C:\\Flashtool\Drivers[Or The Single Driver File-]
6. Now Connect Your Phone In FlashMode Mode.[Power Off And While Connecting Press Volume Down, Green Led Will Light Up]
7. Open Flashtool
8. Click On plugins – Bootloader unlock-And Press ok[Now You Will Be asked To Connect In Fastboot Mode]
9. Enter Fastboot Mode[Power Off And While Connecting Press Volume UP, Blue Led Will Light Up]
10. Now Enter The Code You Got And It Will Unlock The BootLoader.

Relocking Boot Loader

If You Wish To Relock Your Phones Bootloader This Is The Way

Download Files
Relock Files - Download From Here

Step 1 : Install the flash tool in your computer

Step 2 : Extract the downloaded file and install it. copy the ".ftf" file in the firware folder. Default location C:\Flastool\firmwares

Step 3 : Now connect your phone with usb cable to the pc.

Step 4 : Open Flashtool and click the "Thunder" icon and select the flash mode and select the Xperia relock file and click OK.
Then a popup window open follow the procedure in that.

Step 5 : Now wait until the installation complete.

Step 6 : When the installation has completed your phone will not boot.

Step 7 : Install the new firmware using the flashtool. (above bootloader reloack file method).

Step 8 : Once the installation completes remove the USB cable and wait for 30sec and power it on.

Step 9 : Check *#*#7378423#*#* services you can check the boot loader status.

Custom ROMs

Warning : Requires Root Access ,CWM Custom Recovery And Unlocked Bootloader.
Custom ROMs Are ROMs Like AOKP,CM,AOSP Which IS Not Based On Stock ROMs .So It Requires A Custom Kernel To operate .Custom Kernel Allow To Upgrade Android Version Without official Support.

Instructions:
1. Download The Rom You wish To Use.
2. Unpack Boot.img From The Archive.
3.Open Flashtool[Connect your phone To Fastboot Mode]
4.Select the bolt Icon On upper-Left Side Of Flashtool. Select It. Then Select Fastboot.
5.Select Kernel To Flash .Browse the Kernel [boot.img]
6.Reboot Device And Enter CWM Recovery.
7.Do Factory reset, Wipe System[Found Under Mounts and Storage]
8.install zip from sd card-chose zip to install[select the ROMs]
9.Reboot And Enjoy.

Custom Kernels
Custom Kernels Are Modified Aftermarket kernel Used To Enhance User Experience And Allowing To Install Custom ROMs Which Is not Based On Stock. It Also Allows to Control CPU and Is Not Recommended for Users without Experience of Over clocking. It Also Auto Root The Device And Install Custom Recovery.

But I think as this thread is a reference to other guides I think you should sum up some of the most important & useful things in one place to make this thread more supportive to people who find it difficult where should they start from. So make this thread providing clear concepts on bootloader,root,kernel,firmware etc 1st. Then guide them though by providing easiest methods to root on different firmwares & unlocking bootloader. You can also add guide how to flash ftf with flashtool, I just had these things in mind to tell you how you can improve this thread Later If I remember something else I will reply here

It helped me a lot with my xperia mini pro.
Now I have unlocked Bootloader/rooted phone with Kappa 1.6 Kernel and ViperXperia_V7 ROM and all that works from the first time just fine..!

I think my old Xperia X8 helped a lot to understand what is rooted/ulocked bootloader/CWM recovery/how to flash roms,kernels, but here everythink is a bit different.

yes sir my phone is rooted and cwm recovery also working fine.when i restore stock rom from cwm then it boots with freexperia logo and after that it stucks ob black screen

i applied 180 dpi and it accepted and asked me to reboot.
i know without fastboot or flash mod you cant help and i also knw that how to flash kernel or stock rom but no luck without these two modes

you can't use stock rom with fxp kernel.so as u r having issue with ur fastboot flash a fxp supported kernel.and see if it runs

Try that:
1. Restore your stock rom in cwm
2. Select power off (or reboot system now)
3. Take off the battery and wait 15 seconds. Then reinsert the battery!
4. Hold volume up and while pressing volume up just connect your phone to the pc. Don't press power or any other button, just volume up and connect!
5. The blue led should light up now
6. Head over to the development forum and download a kernel for your stock rom (gb -> gb kernel, ics -> ics kernel)
7. Open flashtool and click on the flash -> fastboot mode -> select kernel to flash -> select the kernel working for your stock rom
8. Click okay and wait until it has finished (should take around 5 -10 seconds)
9. Disconnect your phone and press the power button

Now it should work fine

If not, download the latest version of flashtool again and install all drivers from the flashtool installation folder -> drivers for all devices/modes again. Then do the steps as mentioned above

If that doesn't work either, post a flashtool log after connecting and trying to flash the new custom kernel, or try flashing the stock rom in flashmode again :good:

If that doesn't work either, post a flashtool log after connecting and trying to flash the new custom kernel, or try flashing the stock rom in flashmode again :good:

thanksss so much but before this today i notices one thing in flash tool is my device is recognized as xperia active and im using live with walkma..any help???? see the log

you can't use stock rom with fxp kernel.so as u r having issue with ur fastboot flash a fxp supported kernel.and see if it runs

sir thats what im telling you. i cannot connect my phone in fastboot or flashmode (blue or green light) anymore.i tried so many times but as i connect my phone with vol+/vol- phone blinks green or blue light for fraction of seconds and after that it goes off n phone enters charging mode.
if you know how to handle this this kinda situation please suggest me something/ one more thing is pc companion detects phone as live with wlakman which is right but flashtool detects as xperia active. dont know what to do ans service center told me it will cost me about RS. 2000.
