OK guys, well I did not chicken out. I followed the video once again, but this time used my original stock SD card and everything worked. I am rooted! so now to the next steps...

Good luck! glad to hear you've got your problem sorted out. Might i recommend ARHD custom ROM.. It is awesome and everyone over at that thread is helpful. Cheers~

Have you tried using fastboot to reboot into the bootloader?

Next boot your device into what ever state it boots up too. Connect your device via USB to your computer.

If you do not already have it, download and install the Android SDK. Then go Start/Computer/C:/AndroidSDK/tools. Then hold shift and right click in any open space of the window. Select open command window here. In the coand window that opens up type the following.

fastboot reboot recovery

Hit enter and your device should reboot to recovery.

Thanks. It's my friends phone. Not sure what he did after I rooted the phone. Mine runs awesome on the Phoenix ROM. I'll try getting my hands on the phone tomorrow.

Q: My phone was already rooted when I got it and had the mike.... rom installed so at one point following guides like this, I got a message from one of the aplications mentioned that I had already got the stuff on my device. So I decided to just drop the pkmn rom on my SD card and took out batery, in again, vol down etc etc, so all worked fine..... long story for things that went fine

My question however is if I need to make some kind of recovery file may I ever brick my device on new rom flash or are all aplications for that in the forums?
