[GUIDE] (OB6/OF1) Root, Bootloader Unlock, and Custom Recovery!

i have read the rooting posts and download the arabic tool but it says my phone is sepL1 and it only has ob6 or of1 to pick from in drop down box. I googled it and im not quite understanding. so Do i need to roll back my software to root my phone? i simply want to recover deleted audio files using dr fone. Any experienced help and knowledge would be most helpful !

You need to flash one of those first. (I flashed via Odin, was relatively painless, just had to load unzipped file in the AP slot)
The instructions work, just read carefully, and go slowly.

I was on NC4 with Safestrap TWRP etc, now i'm 0b6 and BL unlocked!!!!
Latest TWRP, YeeeeHaaaa!

But reception blows, going to try some other Roms now...


For those on PL1, I think you are probably screwed, as usually not able to flash backwards, but I'm hoping there's a way...

Will taking the OTA that is in my notifications re-lock Bootloader?

Disclaimer:
Before you begin, you'll need a few things:

• TWRP 3.02-1 *

So OP links to TWRP for HLTE not HLTEVZW....
After Unlocking BL I upgraded TWRP to latest, from the page OP linked too......

So I now have twrp-3.2.3-0-hlte.img installed, and while everything is currently working, I'm not wanting to screw it up....
So do I need to switch to an HLTEVZW TWRP, of which latest version is twrp-3.0.2-0-hltevzw-4.4.img??? <<<----- Would this even work on 5.0???

Does it not matter once BL is unlocked?
Hoping an updated HLTEVZW TWRP comes out, regular HLTE latest is from July 2018, HLTEVZW is 2+years older...

Doubtful OP is going to respond, hoping someone more experienced than me can answer, pretty sure I'm not the ONLY person with these questions...

So I tried to root both OB6 and OF1 with ArabicTool, and on both of them it gets to "rooting last step. please wait" and the phone after sitting on the initial boot screen restarts and boots into recovery, and from there it just stops doing anything. I end up in a perma bootloop after that until I reflash with Odin. Is there anything I can do to remedy that or am I just SoL as far as making any progress?

ArabicTool was giving me the recovery loop too, but root method worked for me.

Mine completed fine eventually and now i have TWRP on my verizon note 3, i tried to install Magisk it completes in TWRP but once i open magisk app nothing is detected installed is it possible to install?

How did you get TWRP on your note 3? I tried odin and it freezes on windows 10. So at this point I have no way to get TWRP on the phone. I do have the phone rooted though at least. But can't go beyond that im stuck with android 5.0 on the phone.
