@lost101 - can i flash that firmware without unlocking bootloader?
Yes. But follow instructions exactly, including factory reset.

@lost101 quick question... I am thinking on manually flash from zero (I am on stock) the 6.0 for my European 2g xt1541 but I can see only 4 sparsechunk while people says that 6.0 has six sparsechunk files.. Is the ROM complete? Sorry to disturb could be is a silly question but I can see 6 files on other marshmallow roms (xt1541 1g reteu for example) so this shocked me AND I prefered to wait as there is no rush to flash ;))
If the zip gives no corruption error when extracting, then you have the correct number of sparsechunks for that specific image.

Did you factory reset the device before flashing? Try factory reset from stock recovery now and see if it boots correctly.

Flash the factory image by itself again, then verify boot, remember first boot can take in excess of 10 minutes in some cases... make sure to keep a log of the commands/responses and post them here if it needed.

The reason you can't unlock is clear... You do not have "Allow OEM Unlock" turned on in Developer Options, there is no way around this requirement, you must boot into the OS and turn this on before you can unlock the device's bootloader.

Hello @lost101 sir i'm stuck in a problem and may you can help me to get over it. I have Moto G 2015 (XT1550), before i was on stock and everything was working perfectly (including xposed and supersu). Then i moved to CyanogenMod 13.0 for my device. Now i want to flash stock again and i did it perfectly as well and it does boot up perfectly, but when i flash Supersu to root this time (I tried every supersu for marshmallow whether it is "2.67 or 2.71(latest)" it is not booting up, it freezes on logo.
1. I tried every version of TWRP for moto G
2. Tried every version of supersu
3. Without flashing supersu i boots up perfectly.
4. I can't provide log as phone is not booting up.
I'm attaching 3 screenshots, one of them is after flashing Stock firmware (of course through cmd method) and the another two after flashing cyanogenmod 13. There is difference between both images, please check them and try to provide me solution for it.

First two are after flashing cyanogenmod and last one is after flashing supersu on stock

@Aman Dewett - It's not appropriate to post your problem here. This thread is about flashing factory firmware images, not rooting. Please start a thread in Q & A so others benefit from the answer. I will try to help you there.

Hi. I can't flash anything. Every command I give it says this. I don't know why.
I'm using Windows 10 on VMWare on Mac. Any Solution?
Thanks

This is what I get:
C:\Users\carlo\Desktop\platform-tools>mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
target max-sparse-size: 256MB
sending 'recovery' (16484 KB)...
FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 302.102s

Thank you very very very much @lost101 for the guide.Really saved my day. And if anyone has updated to new version OS and wondering if you need factory version firmware or updated firmware then please go with updated one. and always check your flash text file inside your firmware folder and check how many numbers of "sparsechunk" img there.... follow it and get it done. thank you again.

I thought it was the mac's problem, but it appears not. Maybe it's the cell phone. Any way you can help me? I'm desperate.
Something to add. I managed to unlock the bootloader. Hope you can help me.

What about updating OP?

I think it would be good if OP was updated. Because now we have 5.1 , 6.0 and 6.0.1 and each has some slight differences in the commands required.
I would propose we have specific guide for each of these three versions(5.1, 6.0 and 6.0.1).
What do you think @lost101 ?

I have a XT1542 from Movistar Peru. Could I install Retail Latin America instead of Movistar Latin America for my model (xt1542)? Should I take some extra consideration before flash with some of those firmware?
Could you help me @lost101 ?

The only difference is the number of sparsechunks, and I have added extra sparsechunk commands already to account for this. There is no harm in doing a command for a sparsechunk that does not exist - the main thing is that all that are present get flashed.
