Alright, this is tickin' me off now. I'm downloading my own MJ7 file to see if it got messed up in the upload process. It'll be a little while as I don't have the fastest internet but I'll let you know what's up asap. Also weird cause I have 140 downloads on this file and you're the first running into problems. You could, if you're feeling brave, remove the ".md5" from the file name and see if it flashes correctly.
so just tried it at home downloaded it again and the same error.

I tried the fix suggested before (the one were you remove the .md5 file from the name) and it started flashing immediately. it did not run any type of check whatsoever but it finished just fine. rooting now.

thanks.

Ok, it's confirmed, the MJ7 file linked in the OP is corrupt. Downloaded it both at work and home and got md5 matches but Odin throws a binary hash mismatch. edit: Currently posted OP files are working perfectly.

I've got the original MJ7 tar on my home pc that I used to update so I'm uploading that now. I will then have to download and test that to make sure the upload process didn't bork it again.

This was the file I originally uploaded so I know that it was the upload process that caused packet loss the first time...I really don't know why. I will upload and then re-download, get md5 confirmation and odin binary confirmation before posting the next link. Will be tomorrow, I'll try to get it up as early as possible. Thanks for your patience...this is more than slightly irritating!

I was able to get out of my mess by putting another mj7 file from another source. Kingo rooted everything again. Thanks for the latest supersu file. It fixed everything. Currently running mj7, rooted.
Thanks so much.

You mind posting your mj7 source? I've tried two different ones and both appear corrupt.

I can use this to go back to completely stock firmware?

Yes sir! Unfortunately, I've been having a world of trouble with my file hosting at Android File Hosting - it was downloading corrupted so I re-uploaded it and downloaded it only to find it had the same problem...I'm currently re-uploading a second time. In the meantime I've got the file hosted from my Google Drive so I'll share that link and hope Google doesn't cut it off for too much traffic.

Here you go: See OP link

This is the MJ7 firmware - if you're on MJ7 you can't go back to MI9 so you'll have to use this file. If you're still on MI9 you can stay on it (though there 's no reason to want to) by using the MI9 link in the OP. Follow the instructions there and you'll be on stock firmware. Root instructions are also in the OP.

Will this get rid of the custom logo when it boots up?

Yes it will, assuming you don't proceed through the instructions below the large disclaimer about rooting. Before then you'll keep data and be on unrooted MJ7

MD5 binary is invalid, I've downloaded it 4 times.

I figured...I have been having a world of trouble with Android File Host...I can upload to Google Drive all day and not have any problems but ever since I switched to them (because Drive was limiting my downloads) I have had so many corrupted uploads it's sickening. I'm looking into Dev Host but waiting on a premium account authorization so as soon as I hear from them I'll be going over there. For now I'll start an upload of the MI9 to my Drive. Thanks for letting me know.

Tried rooting with Kingo and it said failed to root. Turned on phone this morning and I see the "unlock" symbol on the splash screen. Root checker says no root. Possibly because I haven't installed SuperSU yet?

Rebooted and now the unlock symbol is gone. Weird.

Both OP links updated with Google Drive hosting - Android File Host couldn't give me a clean upload after 5 attempts...too much time and energy wasted there.

I'm supposed to be receiving a premium membership to Dev Host so as soon as that comes through I'll be back on a true hosting site. Until then, my Drive may get limited so, in that case Muzhik has provided a mirror for the MJ7 tar. You can find it >>HERE<< as long as he keeps it up

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone was still getting the alert to update software even though you're on MJ7? Mine keeps popping up every day to update....
Any know fix?

That's not really possible if you're truly on MJ7. Check Menu > Settings > About Phone > Build Number and let me know what it says.

Also, in the mean time, you can freeze the "SDM" app to stop the update reminders
